Every other Saturday a shadowy figure in a black cloak from Calver pulls up in the retail park, gleefully whips out his bolt and slips it across the gate, secured with his own gilded padlock. Old habits die hard.

Don’t knock it, many times I’ve gone to stab myself in the eye with a pencil after reading this forum, only to be saved by a handily placed rubber.

Sorry but whoever can’t seen that this needs to be kept closed after the game needs help. Don’t blame the police or the club. Blame the feral losers who want to have a pop at the fans of other clubs who have the temerity to show up.

Absolutely right. A few seasons ago before the gate was locked my Mrs picked me up from the retail park, I think it was against Swindon, all of a sudden a group of brave Stags heroes starting attacking the Swindon fans getting on the coaches. Police intervened and the heroes dispersed, no doubt to later tell everyone on FB how hard they were. So as Belly says, if you want someone to blame, blame them.

It just needs a Bobby on the gate to let law abiding citizens through.

What would you do ? Ask them to produce a recent DBS check ? Even then it only proves you haven't been caught !!
Sadly, as both Belly and Rob have said, this whole situation is thanks to the small percentage of a***holes that follow every club.

Not strictly true. The last time a group attacked away fans they came from the bridge near Burger King during the 2nd half of the game, they weren’t even Stags fans just kids looking for trouble. And you don’t need to lock the gate at all, common sense prevails by just keeping the away fans in for 10 minutes after the game like other clubs do.

Noticed today during the second half that there were a lot of blue lights flashing near Burger King.

When we came out of the gate about 5.20pm there were 4 police cars in the retail park but no police in them so not sure where they were.

Exactly right. It works at every other club in the country.
Apart from Sheff Wednesday who just let everybody out at the same time.

Wonder how long it will be closed tomorrow night.

Meanwhile over 4,000 Sheffield Wednesday fans are leaving Oakwell at the same time as 14,000 Barnsley fans

Wouldn't worry about the gate, I'm more worried about the fact Mansfield is gridlocked in peak times at the moment with the closure of oak tree lane, and forest Road. Southwell Road, Carter Lane, Notts Road & forest road are total carnage at the moment due to everyone try to get to the same pinch points.

I'd avoid driving to town if you can

took me 45 mins to get from Big Barn lane, over to the cockle area last night at around 6pm.

Yep the sink hole has only been on Violet Hill a week now. Probably take a month before someone takes responsibility and fills it in.
