Stay in the stands

Postby Retro rob » Wed May 18, 2022 10:12 am

How refreshing it's been in recent games, Salford, forest green rovers, Northampton at home to see the noisy stags fans stay in the stands and show their appreciation for the team. Unlike some others I could mention. Lose or win tonight stay in the stands and give our fantastic boys a great send off, they've earnt it

We've had our fair share of idiots running on the pitch this season, not to mention flares and smoke bombs. I don't get it, why bother?

Hope the club doesn't receive a punishment for the "lawlessness" at the end of the Forest Green end of season match. I think that most of us are capable of differentiating between that good-natured and peaceful celebration and the type of dangerous pitch incursion that the EFL is concerned about, but it's difficult to draw an objective line.

If they do that then they'll also have to fine FGR for celebrating a title win, which I wouldn't put past them.

Almost perfect way to do it tonight. Only a few ran onto the pitch at the end although a lot were around the perimeter. Good stewarding by allowing the odd few that did run on to return without any needless aggression. Very amusing watching the lad in the white t shirt side stepping the stewards and then brilliant from Macca to give him a hug and escort him back into the crowd.
The fans, players and club officials all still got to celebrate together without any risk of it being spoilt.

The lad in white was like Jimmy Mac int the 70s. I think he left 4 stewads on their arses during that run towards his hero.

Completely agree, I hope the message gets across that running on the pitch actually spoils the celebrations. Last night the players were able to walk along the end and then over to the side and it meant we could all see them and express our thanks for taking our club to Wembley for only the third time in our history. It also prevented trouble with some of the irate Cobblers in the corner. All the Stewards and Police we met were very friendly. Still buzzing!

Fans running onto the pitch always brings problems if not today then tomorrow.
The pitch is for players and officials, it was nice to celebrate singing to the lads and them joining in.
No violence no fines just good humour from fans and players, brilliant
