Player of the Season Awards

Postby BH_Stag » Wed May 11, 2022 7:07 pm

Ollerton Stags player of the year: Macca
SSA player of the year: Rhys Oates
Chad Readers: Macca
Fans player: Macca
Players player: Macca
Directors player: James Perch

Right decisions in my opinion for Macca to pretty much mop up! There have been plenty of really solid performers, but he’s had a brilliant season and can hopefully add to his goals/assists tally in the coming weeks.

Perch one is a strange one  obviously done for sentimental reasons, and he has done very well to come back from that injury

I don’t think Perch is a strange one. I think he’s been immense since coming back.
In addition we don’t see his influence behind the scenes.
Well done to all those nominated

Fair, not knocking him by any means. Maybe surprising rather than strange! He’s done brilliantly to overcome his injury and play so much football since his return, and he’s performed well since he has come back, particularly at CB!

Can't help but feel Jordan Bowery should've got one of them.

You could say that about most of the team, shows how well we've done this year.

Video of the awards is a good watch, Macca looked so chuffed after every award and Cloughie cracks a few jokes too

The directors normally give an award to a player who does not win any of the Supporters awards. JR also used to give an award to Mal Benning.

If you were giving an award to another defender then it should go to John Joe O'Toole or Oli Hawkins.

When I was on the pitch after the game on Saturday I was talking to Cloughy as they applauded the fans when the players brought their kids out. Cloughy said "I've never seen so many kids from one football team!"

Bowery missing out is a shame as well as quinn.

Quinn 6 games cost him.

However macca well deserved.

Some of us knew from the start what he brought to the table.some so called fans couldn't wait to slate

John Joe O'Toole made a massive difference after we signed him as did the return of Stephen Quinn.

No complaints about Macca getting most of the awards - and as Cloughie said - Quinn has played a big part in that.

A special mention though to two 'unsung heroes':

Hawkins (who helped to stabilise the heart of the defence, whilst playing out of position) ... and my unsung hero award goes to J.J. O'Toole ... It is no coincidence that his arrival sparked our upturn.

Without a doubt. Solid after a rough start and always an outlet on that right side.
My top 5 would be
Macca 100%
Oates
Quinn
Hewitt
Bishop

Oates all day long. One of the best goals I’ve seen at FM, always giving his all which spurs the team on. Without him we look toothless and lack any pace. For those reasons it’s a no brainier. 2nd JJ who is a class act and a huge reason we improved. 3rd Macca. After that I think everyone played well for most of the season. My take anyway.

Brilliant Martin. One of my favourite ever moments at the Mill. Up there with Simon Coleman’s goal and Benning wonder strike. I’m sure I’ve seen some great Cassells and Stant goals too but Oates is the best of the lot because after that run he finishes from outside the box too. Awesome
