I remember Reece Brown playing against us at Mardy Lane when they were back inLeague 1. He was on loan and I think it was a cup match of some description. He absolutely ran the show even at 18 years old and ripped us a new one.

I thought he was one of the most exciting young footballers I had ever seen. If he’s anything near as good now, I would take him tomorrow.

Yep I remember that too, and he was excellent at Forest Green. Huddersfield then signed him but he only made one appearance for them in the league cup. Been on loan at Posh for the best part of the last couple of seasons.

Jamal Blackman looked quality against the Stags when he played for Wycombe. I'd love him here but there's no way he would drop to League Two surely. He will get a top end League 1 club at least I reckon.

It seems Martin rated him too.. From the match report at home to Wycombe in 2016 -

Apparently Jamal was on 14k a week at Chelsea, doubt he would drop to say 2k a week to play for the Stags.

I'm sure we could afford more than double £2000 for someone with the quality of Blackman. But I agree he's out of our reach.

In terms of out of contract goalkeepers, 6 foot 9 Tomas Holy is more realistic who has been released from Ipswich.

Was apparently amazing in France and Belgium, weird that he can’t even crack it at League 1 level.

Only started 10 games + 6 as a sub for Toulouse... that "amazing" tag is doubtful.

That was 6/7 years ago though, a lot can happen in that time. The same amount of time ago Akins, Murphy, Perch and Quinn were all playing in the Championship.

Mal Benning has been offered a new contract at Port Vale as expected along with James Gibbons and Jamie Proctor. Aidan Stone has also has his contract extended. The only player they have released seems to be David Amoo.
