Sheffield Star: "Newcastle United youngster Matty Longstaff who The Star understands was one of many players Wednesday’s recruitment team watched over last season and who was listed as a potential target heading into the summer, has joined Colchester United on loan until January. The 22-year-old also spent the second half of last season on loan in League Two, scoring six goals in 18 appearances with Mansfield. Wednesday decided to go in a different direction in terms of their midfield options, bringing in midfielders Will Vaulks and Tyreeq Bakinson from the Championship alongside their already existing options. There is no indication Wednesday’s pursuit of Longstaff went beyond initial interest."

Meanwhile, defender Udoka Godwin-Malife (22) is set to undergo surgery on a hamstring injury he suffered at the beginning of August and faces what the club has said is a "lengthy spell" out.

"Swindon Town have confirmed their second deadline-day signing in the form of versatile forward Rushian Hepburn-Murphy. The 23-year-old forward arrives on a permanent deal, the length of which have not been disclosed by Swindon. Hepburn-Murphy has been without a club since leaving Cypriot side Pafos at the end of last season where he starred 23 times and scored on five occasions. Prior to that, the forward has spent time on loan at Cambridge United, Tranmere Rovers, and Derby County. The Birmingham-born ace is a product of the Aston Villa youth academy"
