Match Time Revisited, Saturday mornings ITV4

Postby Martin Shaw » Thu Mar 03, 2022 9:55 pm

I noticed during the Boreham Wood coverage that ITV were plugging their new series on ITV4 of "Match Time Revisited", on Saturday mornings

This is re-runs of the 1981-82 season from Granada TV.

Wigan v Mansfield was shown that season as a main match.
We will see if they include it.
It is already available on youtube but would be good to get on TV anyway

see https://www.stagsnet.net/vintage/stagsTVappearances.htm (including the link to the match highlights on youtube)

A great series. Proper tackles. No play acting and cheating. Pitches without grass. One substitute. A bygone age, never to return.

It’s just replaced Big Match Revisited which ended last week with Villa’s 80/81 league title.

Just watched ex stag Neil Whatmore score against Forest. Seemed to be a bit of karma there.

Whenever I think of Neil Whatmore I think of that picture of him and Keith Cassells celebrating a goal against Hereford I think on the opening day of the season.

That’s correct. A 4-0 win against Hereford I think. A Keith Cassells hat-trick on his debut.

Just watched it on ITV4. Pitch was like concrete, soft penalty to Wigan. Hadn't realised Les Bradd was playing for Wigan. Quite a lot of noise when Adrian Burrows scored - considering most Stags supporters were at Wembley supporting Rainworth MW against Forest Green !

No side with a spine of Arnold, Bird and Caldwell should have been worried about re-election to the league. It just stehat an awful manager Boam was.

The team that took us into the Conference had some cracking players in it.

Arthur Mann would probably be in my best ever Mansfield team as well.

Just been for our Saturday stroll to the Lookout Pub in Winthorpe and there was a young lad wearing a Stags shirt with KENT 7 on the back of it made me smile as I'd just watched the Wigan game before we left..
