On a personal level, I am so pleased for Perch, especially as there have been stories of him keeping himself fit and clearly wanting to get back to professional playing. On a club level, this could be as big a 'signing' as John-Joe O'Toole
Brilliant news and really pleased for Perch that he is able to get back playing!
Will be a big mental test for him now he’s being eased back in to games. He needs to feel comfortable putting his ‘head in where it hurts’ in order to defend crosses, even heading a ball out of the sky from a goal kick, and not feel wary about doing so.
Really hope it goes well for him. Could be huge for the season if he was able to find the same form as he had pre injury!
Fingers crossed it all goes well, a fit and healthy James Perch could make a massive difference as he was undoubtedly one of,if not, our best players pre injury
This came as a total shock to me i fear playing in defence requires heading the ball a lot especially in league 2, but it is great news he can enjoy training. Fingers crossed. for him.
Amazing news, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought that we might have seen the last of him in a stags shirt. An absolute rolls royce of a centre back at this level.
So happy for him. I hope he doesn't have any underlying problems from the extent of his injury, like John Thompson did, and I look forward to him playing in the first team again. be great for him to get some games this season.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.
I don't think this will affect him as much as the John Thompson incident. That was just an assault out of nowhere being shoved. Perch's injury was an innocuous aerial challenge in training. So it's likely that will be enough. Or the randomness of it makes him wary.
