We’ve got 7 haven’t we? 8 now :D

Nartey
Rawson
Perch

O'Toole
Hawkins
Hewitt
Akins

Who am I missing?

Forrester if he comes back. Plus there's a youth lad on loan isn't he a CB as well? Enough options let's say

Nartey - not highly thought of here
Perch - coming off a serious injury
Forrester - injury prone and no guarantee of return

We've got 1 proper CB who's fit and reliable.

We'll get by I'm sure, but I would still like another proper CB.

He won't sign a other CB. He values players over positions, as we've seen time and time again. He'll put Bowery and Aikins at the back if all the others get injured!

According to Wikipedia, his professional debut was as a sub for Luke Beckett.

Aha!!!

Feels like closure. I think we can put the whole Luke Beckett thing to bed now.

Swear we were linked with him when he was at Stevenage and we had Paul Cox

I think we did. It was when we were looking for our new Matt Green. We had Calvin Andrew instead. He played maybe half a season for us scoring 1 goal, but what a goal. Incidentally, Andrew plays for Barrow now, who we play tomorrow.

Be good if the stags fans reminded him he's in our folklore.

I'm hoping for more from Akins though.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Yes we were definitely linked with him a while ago, as you say I think it was around the time Green left.

well on his way to being an instant fan favourite after his interview... what a nice guy!

Sounds like he will give his all and be one of those players that will even have a positive impact on the place when hes asked to sit on the bench

Best signing for some time

Also thanks TO JFH and Burton in recognising that the player wished to leave and nothing could be gained from refusing to terminate his contract when he had the chance to safeguard his future

I'm pretty sure he was once on Paul Cox's radar when he was at Stevenage but he had no money to sign players because the budget had been cut.

I reckon had we not got Cloughy as our manager number one it would’ve cost us a lot of money and number two he wouldn’t have come. I also think Burton did it as a favour to Nige after what he did for them when he resigned to save a lot of peoples jobs at the club.

Agreed. Although I think if Clough wasn't the gaffer not sure we'd have gone after Akins.

Don't forget it was JFH who pulled the plug last minute after Lucas handed in a transfer request last January.

I don't believe he did it as a favour to Nigel, Lucas or us. I don't think he has that much respect for NC. The club does, but not Jimmy.

Cost cutting, pure and simple.

Aye think the club knows that Nigel did a lot of good for them when he resigned... Did save a lot of peoples jobs.

I think Burton and Stags should have a good relationship anyway, two good family clubs with good support being ran properly.
