We have a lot of players who aren't glory lads individually, but make the team better - I venture that Hewitt is one of them.

The rollocking Nigel gave him after the Bradford game has made him stronger, as if to say 'd'ya know what gaffer, I'll cluckin show you'.

I think going forward he's very good, but there's still work to do defensively.

Was he a RB before he joined Stags? He seems to get caught flat footed.

It’s his best position for me, he did well for Grimsby when they had a late push to stay up at CB with Menayese but he’s not strong enough in that position for me.

I think mentally he's not quite up to it at full back, yet anyway.

Hes got the raw tools and his height is a bonus for diagonal balls.

But I've seen him get stood up quite a few times.

Like I say that goal vs Hartlepool, they had a throw on the left and he dropped back to the front post area and left Rawson isolated vs 2.

Signed for Ipswich in the championship at 18 and Welsh u21 right back at the time. The transfer deal could have reached £300k.

Pleased for him, hes a good player and after a raspberry time at county and grimsby hes showing what the club saw in him.

Nigels comments about him after Bradford offended more on here than Hewitt himself whos put in a shift to put those comments behind him and prove him wrong.

And he also executed a perfect slide tackle on the halfway line that game to stop a Hartlepool counter and a certain goal. It saved the game and we built.from there on. So swings and roundabouts.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

I think he's a good defender, I stand by my comment though.

Playing full back requires eyes in the back of your head. I'm not sure he's developed that.
