Class player, the run he made to get back and take the ball off them when they were on the attack late on was fantastic

The first four or fives games he struggled & was lucky to be on the bench tbh, however the transformation to his performance now is amazing, his none stop running, chasing & shooting from anywhere is one of the main reasons we are in the play offs, well done Rhys lad

That’s because he was being played out of position. Since he’s been played as a striker he’s much improved. Still things to work on that will make him even better.

I've never seen a pair of strikers run as much as he and Bowery.

They chase down every loose ball, close down goalkeepers and defenders. Incredibly impressive.

It is very impressive and they are well supported by a talented aggressive midfield. Bear in mind that Lapslie and Stirk weren’t in the squad yesterday.

The lad is all about energy and determination. The little moments he disrupts the comfort zones of opposition defenders makes him a niggling, nasty thorn.
Take the first goal lead up where he wins the throw off Rollin. Rollin thought he'd got t'ball and done enough but Oates thought otherwise getting to the ball first.

Rhys Oates can make bad balls look ok just by his running and work rate. Jordan Bowery was also very good yesterday and could have had a hat-trick. I really wanted him to score as he deserved a goal but he got the assist for the second goal.

He gets fans off their seats which in turn galvanizes the team. If he's playing well, everyone seems to play well. No wonder Hartlepool were gutted to see him leave. He's been great.

He sets the tone for the rest of the team, his running and enthusiasm is infectious and his team mates see his example and work harder. Him and Bowery must be horrible to play against, never get a minute to put your foot on the ball to play a pass. I also think the crowd thrive off his enthusiasm and are louder and sing for longer to will him on. Top player keep it up Rhys!

Rhys has made Bowery work harder for the team. He's seen what Oates does, sees it's working and does his best to do likewise.

Tbf Jordan has always worked hard for the team long before Rhys signed.

Funnily enough yesterday I was watching some clips of the N. Ireland fans chanting that tune re Will Grigg and I thought it would fit for our own Rhys Oates .
Would love to hear it from the Stags fans , worth a try ?

I used to think Danny Rose ran his heart out to close the opposition down but Oates is that bit better in my opinion. Oates is really skillful even when tracked by 2 or 3 of the opposition . Let's hope he can keep it up for the remainder of the season. COYS !

Oates and Bowery are non stop, and never seem to get tired. It's inspiring others, I think. Maris was similarly all action yesterday, right up to the final whistle.
