You have to put Maris in the top one of L2 midfielders.

Yes, Garner had a massive go at Quinn for his backwards header that went straight to Walsall player and a loose flick about two minutes later. Quinn didn't take kindly to it and so at the next free kick walked over to Garner shouting "Oi, that's Bo llo cks" Before they started shouting at each other

I thought Faz did very well to calmly stand between them whilst completely ignoring them both.

Despite the fact the Garner is twice his size, I'd still back Quinn in a scrap between them

Fallouts like that are not always a bad thing. Shows how much success means to these guys. I understand that there were regular fallouts, sometimes resulting in punch ups between players when we won the Blue Square.
Not quite the slick performance today we have become used to, but we dug in to achieve a great result. Thought Jordan was superb again today.

Just back from the game but the phone died.

What a win
What a performance

That was the type of game where we were up about it and could have been done over, today we weren’t, wr weren’t bullied we weren’t done over and we kept at our game.

I think this is crucial, I used to worry were a little too nice or soft but that edge has gone. What is pleasing is that it also applies to the younger subs as well. Charsley didn't take step backwards (likewise Law in recent games)

I do believe Quinn was telling Garner he was wearing two hats if my lip reading was correct.

Ground out a great result whilst not at our best
Never felt comfortable till we went 2-0 up
But after watching the extended highlights how we didn’t win by a bigger margin is amazing and their manager says he thought they deserved something out of the game
Really on missed chances on both sides it could have been 5-2

Another great win, and an important one with the amount of tough away games we have coming up!

I don’t feel we ever found our full flow really and we can be a lot better than that so it was encouraging that we still managed to come out worthy winners. Second half obviously a lot better and fair play to Charsley for making that kind of impact after Cloughs comments on Tuesday about needing more - he knows how to get a tune out of this lot! O’Toole solid when at the back again and his ability to play out from the back there really helps us. All of the back line were solid though and great to get a clean sheet.

Quinn and Garner’s argument will be like water off a ducks back now. As alluded to, shows how much everyone wants to win!

I thought Matt Taylor was a man under pressure during that interview.

He was bigging his team’s performance up and not giving any credit to the opposition. If he truly believes his analysis he’s in the wrong job. Not saying they were totally out of the game but they certainly didn’t deserve to win and a point would have been lucky.

Walsall looked a team with no identity to me. I was never sure what they were trying to do, other than keep the score at 0-0.

I was looking for a clean sheet today with so many away games coming up we had to stop conceding so many goals.
We looked solid with Oates and Bowery dropping back and of coarse the midfield engine room, Hawkins once more getting a yellow card worried me, one more bad tackle and we could be playing with 10 men.
Walsall were committed and dangerous on the break and at 1-0 they had nothing to lose, oh how that second goal from Charsley lifted me off my seat,
The ground erupted 3 points felt safe , and they had to score 2 in 3 minutes .
On reflection we deserved to win,

I think the profligacy of Hawkins bookings is down to him being played out of position.

Thought George Miller was superb for them yesterday, led the line well and in a better side could be lethal at L2 level.
Noticed AG talking to him at FT , possible recall by Barnsley and loan to Stags ? Think he'd fit our style perfectly!

No I don't think so. Miller has played well against us twice, and in between gone 13 games (now 14) without scoring, see Nigel Clough comment in my report.

I agree Belly, struggles with pace and was particularly poor in the first half against Walsall. Hawkins needs to be up front 90% of the time and in our box to defend corners and fee kicks only.
