I don't understand where it comes from that Akins will play in midfield. I can't see him playing anywhere else but upfront or in the wing back positions. He's competing with Bowery, not the midfielders.

Think Lapslie could leave with us being linked to goal scoring midfielders. Nolan and Biggins wouldn’t want to be bit part players like Charsley so cannot see it being a replacement for him.

Laps did sign here to play regularly after being on the bench at Charlton, so with him having to come from the bench more often this season he could have asked to leave.

People were saying same about our captain Ollie Clarke before Saturday, letting him or Lapslie would be a huge mistake excluding a massive bid.

I think the fact that Lapslie is injured and Clarke is returning from an injury will, hopefully, prevent that

Yeah, what club signs injured players?

Akins will play up front, right wing, right back, right wingback or anywhere across the midfield.

Wallace can play across the midfield, or across the back line - left or right sided.

James Perch will also play right back, centre half or in that holding/defensive midfield role.

Perch, Wallace and Akins will find it hard to break in while Bowery, Hewitt, O'Toole and Hawkins are doing so well and we're winning.

Nolan ?

Jon Nolan rumoured.

Where would a new signing fit in if we keep Lapslie though? The only other player who could have attracted interest is Maris.

In the midfield diamond we have;
DM: Maris/Stirk/O’Toole/Perch etc - more than adequate cover
LCM: Quinn/Stirk/Wallace/Law - no players needed
RCM: Clarke/Lapslie/Maris - enough cover barring injury/suspension
CAM: Maris/Lapslie/Law/Oates - no players needed

I suppose we are lighter for that right side but assuming Clarke is fit and he is the captain so will play most likely it doesn’t leave room for anyone to get close to starting without suspension/injuries.

Bristol Rovers are said to be signing a central midfielder today, Clarke?

I think people are looking to create deadline day excitement where there might not be any.

I might end up with egg on my face but don't see any of our big hitters leaving.

I think any outs will be loans and the in (if it happens) will strengthen the depth we already have.

Probably correct imo. 1 fringe player out on loan maybe and 1 in. It’s what Clough sort of said too. He did say we’re under no pressure to get someone out though, so maybe just the one player coming in. Nice to have a little excitement though Broomo!!!

My excitement was in the O'Toole and Akins signing. If we didn't get anyone in today I'm not bothered, happy with the squad we've got!

Aikins covers RM or RW. Charsley has been used on the right.

Wallace covers CM, Charlsey's other position.

He doesn’t though, not the right of a diamond. Wallace is left footed who played CDM for york 6 times.

He will bring someone in today to replace charlsey.

Hope this is just a replacement for Charsley and doesn’t mean we have a midfielder going out.

Aikins and Wallace are Charsley's replacements. They cover his two positions.

When has Charsley played left back? Thats me thinking Wallace is a left back no?

He said in his interview he was a midfielder who can cover left back

Gordon said he was a winger/wing back. These players don't know what position they play best in. Apparently.
