Could be the return of that diamond formation with...

Maris DM
Longstaff RM
Quinn LM
Murphy AM
Bowery FW
Oates FW

... Aikins, Clarke, Lapslie, Stirk, Wallace and Johnson impacting from the bench.

I also think he'll stick with Oates and Bowery. They run to much not to be playing

Nothing's ever won on paper. These signings only work if we keep winning. Nigel Clough needs to stick with his winning team for the time being.

100%. I think only an injury would change our starting 11 right now.

At least until we begin our Tues/Sat/Tues run to the end of the season.

I would think both the new signings will be introduced into the team , after to nights game we have a full week on the training ground to introduce them to the squad and the set up

I wouldn’t leave Stirk out - he is a class act. As I’ve said I think Quinn will be rested from time to time.

What an absolutely awesome midfield group. On paper it’s top end of league one standard in my view

Assuming Murphy will play just behind Oates, the 4 midfield slots will be hugely competitive. How about playing Stirk, Maris, Akins and Quinn 1st half, then Clarke, Lapslie, Longstaff and Bowery 2nd half

The choice we have is pretty insane.

That's the very reason I'm gutted it's back down to the 3 sub rule.

If it was still 5 we would frighten teams to death with our depth.

3 subs still means 2 very good players won't get on at all.

Never watched that before thanks for sharing. Looks like we were in for Sam Hughes before he ended up signing for Burton on loan.

He also mentioned the ‘lad from Oldham’ which is probably Piergianni.

Thank God we did not sign Carl Piergianni who has been a very poor defender this season.

He might have been good for us. People were saying Hewitt was a bad signing and he’s proved them wrong.

Remember nothing great was said when we signed the Chief.

Just watch the highlights of the Oldham games. I've already listed numerous examples of poor defending/clangers by him.

Elliott Hewitt was one of Grimsby's better players last season and did not make bad errors like Piergianni has this season. Piergianni will end up back in the National League.
