On way back frozen solid, that was a cold night. Really proud of the players, many playing injured, they left it all out there and more. The injury list is unbelievable, but there is little doubt about the heart of this squad. We were 2nd best, especially 2nd half but defended really well with Hewitt clearly MoM for me. Let's hope they have a good rest and recover for Sat. Hopefully Hawkins and Oates will be back. Top half now, it's on!

As said elsewhere it’s night like this when otoole and quinn proved their worth with their experience , i dare say it could have been very different.

As others have said jamie hewitt is coming into his own after a very slow start.

3,500 on a tuesday night in december when the weathers crap and there is champions league football on is also a decent effort

Apart from when he made a hash of tipping the ball over the bar in the first half.

Great hard fought win that. Absolute buzzing. 8 wins out of 9 is some effort considering we’d gone about 12 without a win before.

I don't know what the sponsors were smoking but Hewitt was easily man of the match. And Gillingham got thrashed 5-1 with Lincoln getting sucked into a relegation battle after another defeat.

Ugh that second half was painful but I'm encouraged because we know how to win in very different ways. The best teams can grind out ugly wins and that's what we did tonight. Great fredding SFL, channeling your inner BEERMEN :D

But he is class though.

Easily the best keeper we’ve had since we’ve got promoted back to the FL

It is nice that we have got a horrible win with a clean sheet. We didn't deserve 3 points but it speaks volumes for how much this team has developed over recent weeks

Used our "get out of jail free" card tonight. Most of them battled hard all game, but Carlisle will be annoyed they didn't get something from the game. We were a mixture between utterly sloppy on the ball and looking comfortable controlling it. Very odd.

Good signs though. We defended well. Goal was well taken and on we go. COYS

A real battle of a performance and a very welcome three points.

I feared the worst before kick off and Carlisle certainly played their part in a very entertaining if disrupted game. This could be one of the pivotal wins of the season as it’s put us firmly back into the playoff race. I’m beginning to dream again and just hope we can keep the momentum going.

Only a few weeks ago we were saying 9 points from the playoffs may not be too far. That’s now the gap to the automatics. Surely we can’t catch that up.

The way he dealt with that last minute free kick with little fuss says it all for me.

Tremendous keeper.

All the team worked there socks off tonight and we've done brilliant to win with no strike force really..

Onto Saturday

exactly, imagine if we’d have got someone like that fat no hoper logan in goal. who’d have just stood there on his line and probably conceded, he’s coolness personified.

Lead from the back and go from there.

A very scrappy ugly win where Carlisle deserved a draw but I'll take it.

John-Joe O'Toole was my MOM. He was excellent in the 2nd half. Didn't miss a thing at the back. His signing and the return of Stephen Quinn have been crucial to our improved form. You can't beat a bit of quality experience in the team especially after losing James Perch.
