Lindon Meikle’s story is a testament to his hard work. His life could have taken a different path. Making snarky comments about why he is a teacher is condescending .

Normally fully qualified teachers usually have to obtained a degree before doing a follow on course.

I think the original poster was surprised that Lindon had been to university.

I know some teachers now go through a direct route without having to go to university and if he has gone this route then fair play to the lad. I know teaching is not the cushy job that folk talk about ( ie 13 weeks holiday , finishing at 4pm etc.). Nowadays it takes proper dedication to follow that career.

Well said Pete. I believe there is a fast track scheme into sports education for former professional sports people, maybe he took that route? There are other schemes such as QTS.

Secondary school can be a 4pm finish but Primary definitely isn’t and you need more qualifications for primary so you’re right about fast track. Loads of ways in at secondary and more than in previous years at primary education level. I do laugh that folk think teachers have 13 weeks off too lol. Lucky if they actually take 8-9 weeks.
