A waste of an evening. I expected a tough game, but it just feels like we rolled over without putting up a fight tonight.

I wasn’t getting carried away with our run anyway with the Cali response of opposition we’ve beaten, but hopefully this serves as a wake up call that we’ve a long way to go yet.

I never thought we'd win tonight & after the first 5 minutes I'm quite relieved we didn't get a proper spanking.

Down to 18th and back to being closer to the drop than the play offs.

We have a squad of players, that, season on season, seem to become poorer and poorer in quality. And as for standing up, when it comes to a fight, and a scrap for points. they whither away and die. We are so far off the best in this league, that it's almost painful to watch.

We've got away recently missing a few players against some poor sides. But tonight against a side that although only come alive in each box are very good a what they do shows that Hewitt, Charsley and Bowery just aren't good enough. If Oates is not fit Saturday sod the defence get Hawkins up top. We can't get away with nothing up there. Too often Nigel sticks with the same 11 when it obviously needs something different.

Am I allowed to criticise Bowery without being called racist?

So for Crawley - Forrester at the back - Hawkins up front - Sinclair for Bowery

Just looked at stats and it seems we were well in the game. Just goes to show how deceiving they can be.

I don’t think that’s deceiving. We were in the game, more than in it. They took the few openings they created and we didn’t. Neither team played well.

You'd think these players would owe Clough a performance on Saturday after sticking by them, but I wouldn't put your house on it.

We were poor in most areas of the pitch. Nothing up front and bullied across the midfield and defence. Sinclair showed some touches but nothing else imo.

Good turnout by the stags fans on a cold night in London.

It’s never easy being a Mansfield fan but I do want to see the 11 on the pitch put a shift in. Not convinced they all did that tonight.

We didn’t play great, but more than matched them. We just never looked like scoring.

The reason Bowery gets sticks is that he rarely gets into scoring positions and when he does he doesn’t look likely to score.

On Saturday his hold up play was very good, but today everything he touched just bobbled to the opposition. He really was poor.

It’s about time Hawkins was sent back up front. He’s a real threat in the box and now Faz is fit and O’Toole and Forrester are available, there is no need to limit our attacking options so much

Possibly because like Charsley he doesn't hide.

3 or 4 players tonight managed to disappear.

Agree with most of that except we didn’t match them , they harried and bullied us and were sharper in key areas , they were better at the parts of the game that mattered

Bowery is not up to the standard of a good league team. His shoulders drop , misses headers , hold up play poor , positioning ok , finishing awful.

That performance highlighted our lack of pace throughout the team. Sutton were faster to the ball in every part of the pitch and that caused the majority of our problems. When we did get the ball, they closed us down and we just couldn’t get it to a player who had any space to work in.

I don’t think some posters are giving Sutton the credit they deserve as they had a plan and stuck to it. When we fell behind early doors that set the course of the game and we never got back into it. They were strong in the tackles and it was no coincidence that all of the second balls fell to them.

I would have given the second half to James Gale as he has both strength and pace and couldn’t have done any worse than Bowery. Yes it would have been a big ask for a young inexperienced lad but we were never going to score anyway and the experience would have done wonders for the lad.

I’m not too disappointed as I expected to lose anyway and think we will do better at Crawley but may have to settle for a point.

The important thing is that we’ve maintained our lead over the bottom two.
