The journalist shouldn't have asked him. I asked him not to. There have been 38 books out about his dad and the only one ANY of the family have commented on is the Damned United.

Nigel could and possibly should have been harsher towards me, certainly about that aspect of it.

He was fine when I said hello in the car park after the game.

He's probably tired of reading books about his dad written by other people, me included.

I’ve been wary of commenting on this but my opinion, for what it’s worth, is that this is not an act of catharsis. To me, it’s about money. It’s pretty obvious from NC’s reaction that his opinion isn’t too positive either.

Not for the first time, you're wrong. So your opinion for what it's worth, is worthless.

So far the advance has gone to childrens charities, teenage homeless shelters, domestic abuse survivors, Afghan Womens refugees and football in the community charities.

The proceeds/royalties (if it sells well) will go to underprivileged kids.

I don't expect or need you to be positive. I certainly don't want you to buy the book.

I don't doubt Nigel isn't positive, he doesn't like books about his dad and probably dislikes the fact I've brought attention to it but a) I told them I was writing it. b) I asked if there was a charity they wanted to choose and c) I sent a copy in advance of publication with the offer of taking out anything they didn't like.

Maybe keep your thoughts and comments private eh Sergeant?

I expect criticism for what I did 30 years ago. I promised myself I'd not get involved in an argument about it as the criticism is justified but trust you to find a way to piss me off.

I won't comment back to you on this again. Think what you want.

Good. Because that is exactly what I’m doing.

My opinion isn’t worthless. It’s as valid as anyone else’s. It’s also the same as a few people too.

Are you attempting once again to shutdown anyone who doesn’t fawn at you ? You seem to think that we all should be honoured by your presence following the club. We aren’t. I think it’s weird.

Man you have some serious issues.

You've created something in your head that doesn't exist.

I expect no fawning. I'm just here to watch some football.

I don’t think that’s true. If I’d stole off someone’s family, the last thing I’d be doing is following them around. Or writing a book about it. You say that you told the family you were writing it. Did they respond ?

Yes they responded.

The book isn't about me stealing from them.

Either read it and comment from a position of knowing or don't read it and comment from a position of ignorance.

Pretty much like you do on the football you don't watch.

Once more people discussing a book about football and a Manager famous around Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire , whether people buy the book or not is a choice.
The contents like all books show the good and the bad in human nature.
The post says it all Broomo"s story, and it is interesting to review posters views.
Oh dear someone has to turn it into the normal slanging match, sticking to my normal reply to this ----- NO COMMENT

I'll just add that at no point did I ask for this thread to be put up, or any other thread discussing the book (or me) at no point have I linked to any of the publicity and at no point have I asked anyone to buy the book.

I've commented and answered honestly throughout.

One person (maybe more privately) think I'm doing it for the money. One person (maybe more privately) is wrong.

The first and last time I'll post something to publicise the book.

Made it onto the Times 12 best sports books of 2021 list.

Such an honour.
