2-3

Great run and pass from Jakob Kruszynski puts one on a plate for Jack Deakin to score from a tight angle.

The Young Stags have played better with 10 men. Jacob Kruszynsk (10) has been our main attacking threat but his final ball or shot let him down until extra time. Wearing gloves probably disorientated him.

Jack Deakin has done well to score the goals especially as he said he had cramp before the full time whistle.

It was Melvin who said Jack Deakin had not done a lot before he scored the first goal. He then didn't do a lot again before scoring his next two goals.

A great result and it appears a demonstration of real character.

Sad to say mate I couldn't make it for family reasons, great to read about the win though and hope for a home tie in the next round. I'll have chips on Saturday :D

FA Youth Cup
FT: Boston United 2 Mansfield Town 5 (after extra time) (FT: 2-2) (HT: 1-1)

Ten man Stags were tremendous in extra time with Jack Deakin scoring two more goals including lobbing the keeper from 25 yards to complete a hat-trick. He did particularly well bearing in mind he was complaining of cramp before the final whistle. Sub Max Hurdis then scored with his first touch to make it 5-2.

Boston took the lead from a corner in the 1st half but centre half Freddie Pitts equalised for the Stags from a free kick. The Stags then took the lead in the 2nd half when Jack Deakin smashed one in from 30 yards. Mansfield were the better side in the 2nd half and it was difficult seeing Boston scoring from open play. Their only hope was a set piece and sure enough they scored again from a corner. Freddie Pitts was then sent off for a professional foul after a defensive error in the final minute to give the Stags an uphill task in extra time but they played better with ten men and ended up winning comfortably.
Jacoub Kruszynski (No 10) played well for the Stags and was the main attacking threat but his final pass or shot often let him down until he set up Jack Deakin for his 2nd goal in extra time.

Looking forward to the next round.
