Just asked my mate a football writer for the local paper

"Tough one to judge, the team is flying and everyone is interested in the squad and the young uns coming through. Could be anywhere between 10k and 25k!!"

Lets hope for our sake it's the latter. A big gate could pay the loan wages of a decent player for 5 months.

I always thought it was 40% each and the rest to the FA. Dunno where I got that from.

It is. Deductions include the FA's cut!

Mackem friend reckons it'll be fairly empty because they're playing us, likely to field a young team and people won't bother/ just expecting a crap game or easy win.

Really hope its a decent crowd for us, We will surely sell out. Just odd, you'd think a club their size and especially as theyre doing well would have a good crowd everyweek no matter who they play

For matches from the Third Round Proper up to and including the Sixth Round Proper, net gate receipts from each match are split between the two teams involved, the 'Pool' and The FA. For any tie up to and including the Sixth Round Proper a non-league club will receive a minimum of 47.5% of net gate receipts.

It is not clear what the % is for the earlier rounds but I think it is 40/40

The Stadium of light with fans is something our players should relish, like Newcastle fans it is a way of life for the Mackems, Nigel Clough was born there, and their is a statue of Brian Clough in the local park.
with average attendance 29-575 i expect well over 20-000 for the cup, we have 3 problems, 1 they have home advantage, 2 they have a squad valued at over £10 million
3 the Manager Lee Johnson has played under Clough so the stags will not be taken lightly.
Clough will once more tell the players to enjoy the atmosphere and its a one off , give it your best shot

Latest rule says

In all matches prior to the Third Round of the Competition Proper the net gate receipts of each match shall be divided equally between the competing Clubs.
Those accustomed to privilege may feel that equality is oppression.

What would we get if we played dagenham again on that sunday when the game was on tv, probably little more than 1500.

It’s a standard now sadly

Is there a possibility that this match will be moved to Sunday 7th?

yes, see:
Martin Shaw wrote:There will still be the Sunday games for the BBC final score type programme I expect. Usually about 8 games moved for that. They are usually announced later.

There is usually one game for overseas broadcast too, like our game against Charlton.

The game will not be streamed on iFollow. That was a one off because of the pandemic, and being behind closed doors.

I love mansfield dearly but putting us on tv abroad might cause irreparable damage to the image of english football

I think there's a distinct possibility. Earlier post refers (p3)

Johnny Rotten wrote:For added spice and interest didn't Clough snr have sort of involvement at Sunderland? Certainly born up that way at the very least.

Perhaps that might make it one of those Sunday games that the BBC have a reporter at...?

With Sunderland being arguably the biggest and best team in the cup at present I would imagine they will get moved to the Sunday for tv viewing audiences.

It's likely I'm getting confused with a different game but didn't the last game that was overseas ended up available on bookies sites if you placed a bet on it?

I see Rochdale vs Notts Co and Bolton vs Stockport have been moved to Sunday.

Lets hope its nearer 25k and then we'll be able to afford a 40 year centre forward, to go with our 35 year old centre half!
