It could be good news though if the Radfords move quickly to bring them in to replace Clough and save your season.

Gillingham fans want their new billionaire owner to sack Neil Harris and go for the Cowleys.

Crawley are supposed to be after Woking manager Darrell Sarll who was previously at Stevenage and Yeovil.

The Cowleys would be a great appointment for The Gills and would probably have them in League One before Clough does you.

Sarll would have to be mad to leave Woking for Crawley.

I think your team will be back in league 1 before Gillingham. It will take them at least 5 years to get out of the conference.

I hope and trust my team never play in League One again in my lifetime.

If the Cowleys, and it's a big if, were to be appointed by Gillingham within the next couple of weeks I would be extremely confident about The Gills league survival . I would also be putting my money where my mouth is regarding promotion next season.

I think they'll wait for the Lincoln job to be available again. I wouldn't want them here, they're worse than Evans & Raynor for abusing officials.

Yes, a few on here will blame NC if Portsmouth now decide Freeman is no longer available.

I've met both of them briefly as they gave talks at my sons old school. They are very competitive but not nasty and were very well liked and respected in the Lincoln community outside football. Coming from a teaching background they were quite involved with the local schools, they speak very, very well.

I can’t understand why JR would sack Clough at the moment.
The facts are as follows:
- we seem to be being run on a more sustainable basis (we don’t know but presumably lower cash requirements from JR).
- we have a record number of season ticket holders by some distance.
- we are seventh in the League at half way through the season. Playoffs easily achievable and auto promotion also a possibility.
- any manager coming in will want a new team and a bunch of new signings (equals more money from JR).
- with the benefit of hindsight sacking DF might not have been the best idea and we know that CR did not support it and has said so.
- two of the last three manager appointments were a disaster. (In fairness some decent signings by GC at least).

We can all see areas for improvement (definitely defenders and perhaps a younger squad) but calling for Clough to be sacked in light of the above seems an over reaction to me.

Good post NE Stag. We don't want to go back again to the two dreadful wasted seasons under John Dempster and Graham Coughlan in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. We were heading back to the National League until Nigel Clough came along and saved us. We then made the play offs last season. We could do the same this season.

It took Ian Greaves three full seasons before we gained promotion and we finished 19th and 14th before finishing 3rd in 1985-1986. The fans would be calling for him to be sacked these days.

Leam Richardson is 2/1 favourite for the Portsmouth job. He was previously Paul Cook's assistant manager at Portsmouth.

Darrell Clarke is 3rd in the betting at 8/1 and Michael Flynn at 16/1.
