On a different level, Spurs and Barnsley have sacked their managers. Perhaps this is an opportunity for the £m manager on this side of the M1 to step up a level

Scunthorpe 8 managers in 8 years bottom of league 2, could it be sacking managers is not the solution.
i must say though their is always a vacancy in that career, and the holiday pay is good normal 18 months.

Dave Challinor is a great appointment for Stockport County and hopefully it will weaken Hartlepool. I listened to his interviews at the start of the season and he was not very happy because he pointed out he had been offered a new contract by Hartlepool for about half the average manager salary in League 2. However he then kept mentioning that progress was being made in negotiations and he recently signed a new 3 year contract.

Hartlepool Club Statement
"Dave Challinor has this afternoon informed the Hartlepool United Board that he wants to leave and join Stockport County FC. This follows an approach by Stockport to the manager through his agent during the course of last week, which Hartlepool United were informed of on Friday. As a club we were disappointed the first approach did not come direct to the club. Also that this was so soon after Dave signed a new three year contract.

We believed we were building something special with Dave and this squad - matched by the magnificent support the team has received, home and away. Therefore, we declined a request from Stockport for permission to speak with Dave on Sunday. However, after speaking to him again on Monday, he has verbally notified us of his intention to leave. Ultimately, it is crucial that the manager of our club is 100% committed to the job. Dave had made it clear he wants to leave. Coach Anthony Sweeney will take charge of the team for Tuesday’s fixture with Everton and for the immediate future as interim manager while the Board consider its position in relation to this matter."

Keith Hill is an old school manager who is brutally honest with players like Nigel Clough. His last interview as Tranmere manager before he was sacked before the play offs is worth watching. There was clearly some disunity between the Tranmere players and Keith Hill thought he could not tell them what he really thought in case it upset them.
