Think he started off well and then form tailed off towards end of the season. He did seem to give the ball away a lot and was a bit like Murray always looking for that million pound pass but rarely finding it.

Not terrible, not amazing.

Hardly a hold up type number 10 though, Cloughie seems to be wanting that type of front man

I don’t get the sense that’s what he’s looking for, I think it’s more someone who can play between the lines or out wide, rather than a hold up/target man type player.

Agreed MTFC Musings....its a Number 10 type of link up striker NC wants.....someone in the mould of Tom Nicols would be ideal.
The centre forward he is looking to sign will be a young striker.......which would be a waste for me as we have someone in James Gale who given time could make the step up !!

From the little I’ve seen of Gale, I would agree with that. Sometimes you can see the crude ability in a player who maybe just needs a bit of coaching to bring it out. I think Gale has it in him if he is played in the right way. I’m not sure if I would have arranged another loan spell but would have been tempted to include him here. The problem is that he needs game time and may not get much here.

If we can get him on loan to the conference level then we should really consider it. If its lower then you have to wonder if its worth keeping him in the fold here instead. We can always loan him outside the window if a team is in need in the league below.

Carlos Corberan has resigned at Huddersfield. Danny Schofield has been promoted from first team coach. Danny Schofield played against the Stags in the League 2 Play Off Final in 2004 and scored a penalty.

I don’t know what the thinking behind this is or what recruitment they’ve made in the summer but it seems really early to sack them after 4 games.

Surely if it’s a hangover from last season you would have been better sacking them in May and allowing the new manager a pre season and more than 2 weeks of the transfer window.

York manager, John Askey, is the 4/7 favourite to be the new Rochdale manager. Last week David Artell was 4/6 favourite!!

Alex Neil has jumped ship from Sunderland into the vacant Stoke seat.

Clough to Sunderland? ;)

Strange one that imo,
A sideways step at best, I think Sunderland are the bigger club.

Closer to home, more money, more control over transfers.

I thought the same but apparently he’s only on a 12 month rolling contract and Stoke will give him 2-3 years and £3million :? :o

Also Alex Neil doesn’t seem like the kind of manager who would want to be in a Netflix documentary

That will go down well with the Black Cats faithful..... what an underwhelming appointment if it happens.

Keith Hill has only won three out of 39 games at Scunthorpe and they are 23rd in the National League. He's also had two transfer windows to strengthen the squad.
