As at the moment every game we lose for sending off or injury, at this rate NC will be playing

I assume he means they should be looking and signing free agents.

No point just signing someone for the sake of it (see forrester & Nartey). We only want players who will improve the squad.... Out of contract players are usually out of contract for a reason.
I'd rather play the kids than have another tugboat turner at county situation

Just reading back, it's hilarious really...

Were in a tough spot now, but the league is weak and it won't take much to get in the mix after a small run

I'm amazed that they haven't thought of it already, hopefully they read this site.

The only bizarre thing about this thread is the need for it . When you consider we have the best management team for years and a well positioned CEO.

But we are now in a s//t or bust situation with only the youngest left to don the jersey

Even if Naylor had signed he too could have been crocked. You need depth of squad and the ability to think laterally. We haven’t I don’t know why

We have seven players out. No squad outside the Premier League would be able to deal with that.

Just our luck that the only season we have been sensible in squad size we end up with so many players out.
I liked Cloughs thoughts on buying versatile players who cover different positions but they can't play them at the same time.

How about Martin Cranie, predominately a centre back but can also play full back. 35, released by Luton after he turned down an extension.

Was chatting with a Burton fan and he seems to thing they'll be offloading Brayford in Jan.

David Wheater is still injured and has moved back to Teeside. He has a back injury going back to 2014 which was made worse in 2019 when he picked his dog up. It was reported in the press that he is targeting a come back in January with Darlington. This would mean that if we signed him, he wouldn't be fit to play until after the January window was open.

Is there a list of free agents anywhere?

Why do we need players who nobody else wants, the only case being in a emergency, our staff are looking into player shortage, and whether we have young players who can step up.
Just giving contracts out can cost money that we may need in January

Thing is this place will scream and cry for a free agent signing, but then will complain why we've signed them when they're either get injured because they're not match fit or just not very good in general. Or aren't in the team when we've got other players coming back from injury and bans

Well we've signed Forrester who got stretchered off in Stoker's first pre season friendly (estimated to be out 6-8 weeks in mid July) and is still injured. We've already signed and probably wasting money on an unfit player that was injured again and isn't match fit. So what's one more?

We could end up with some right pap that nobody wants. Like that Stephen McLaughlin we signed last September. What a truly horrific signing that was.

I agree, can play centre back or right back and is a proper defender.

Darragh MacAnthony said on his podcast this week that it can take up to 8 weeks to get a free agent fully match fit.
