James Perch

Postby oldweststander » Sun Sep 05, 2021 6:20 pm

I know James suffered a head injury in training, to what extent is he injured.

Two posters on Stagsnet have said:

1) he suffered a fractured skull.

2) he has a broken jaw.

Does anyone know anything for certain?

The way we rushed to get two defenders in made me think it was serious.

But having heard Cloughs comments yesterday, seen pictures of Perch at the game, having heard he was on comms, makes me think they’re might be a bit less to worry about.

NC said yesterday things defensively are unlikely to improve until JP is back, or we find a experienced CH who is a free agent.

I don't know if many on here watched soccer aid yesterday, but Wes Morgan seemed to have a decent game. I assume he's a free agent and I think he lives in the Nottingham area. Whether he could get to the right fitness levels is debatable.

Any thoughts ?

I'd take Big Wes if he was up for it. Great suggestion.

Perch was on Mansfield 103.2 radio yesterday with Mark Stevenson, reporting on the game. Perch said he is "waiting to hear what the medical people say" with no further news on a timescale for return or details of the injury.

There is an FA protocol on head injuries that has to be followed to the letter.
I'm sure I posted it last season on the time scale for just returning to full training, as I remember it was a minimum of 2 weeks before any training could resume and another week before heading a ball was allowed.
I would say 4-6 weeks is the possible outcome.

Rawson came off in the cup game, because of a bad back, so if correct, it meant Perch- Forrester- Rawson not fully fit, So the central defence picked itself.
Perch is a big miss

Maybe Rawson has had the issue for a while, I wouldn't want to head the ball with a bad back either.
