When he left to go to Barnsley he was a No.10, or am I mistaken?

He’s a midfielder by trade yes. There’s no room for him there though it would seem.

Thanks Musings, since i havent seen him play at CB could you give an assessment of his suitability to play there, or would he be better as a defensive midfielder.

He was terrible there last Tues at Harrogate, looked out of position, which he was.

Yeah, as Rob says I don’t think he’s suited to it, certainly not in a men’s game. Hasn’t got the size as the bare minimum.

I have a feeling he'll play Bowery on Saturday rather than Sinclair, it'll be a travesty if that does happen

Bowery isn’t a league standard player, surely we’ve worked this out by now

I'd definitely have him in Quinn's spot. Hope he can nail it down too

Why there?

Quinn has been absolutely brilliant for us and Ty looks much better further forward.

I hope he nails down a spot as he's someone we could get a fortune for down the line but don't see him as a left winger/ left midfielder.

Because Quinn is banned for three games and I'd rather have Sinclair there than Bowery.

I don't understand what more Sinclair has to do to get a start, he's performed in every game he's played.
He also has the long throw in his armoury for Hawkins to manipulate.

The team tonight was basically the same team as last Tuesday.

The difference tonight was the quality of the opposition.

Sunderland’s side was more of an U20’s side and we were more physical than them.

We took the goals well, especially Law’s shot and the link up play for Sinclair’s goal.

Hardly duh.

Bobby made it sound like "nailing down" that spot meant long term. Not just the 3 games Quinn is out for.

I'd prefer Ty in a more advanced role.

Sinclair could play in behind Hawkins/Johnson too I guess, Lapslie hasn't done much in the games I've seen him but it is a long season and we know what Lapslie can do from last season.

Who would you play on the left instead of Quinn Broomo?

I would like to see Law given the ‘Quinn’ spot, but I suspect it would be given to Stirk

I think it depends on what formation he’s going with.

If he goes back to the Diamond, I think Stirk will play in place of Quinn and Johnson will come in for Clarke.

If he plays the 4-5-1 from Saturday, I think Bowery will play on the left for Quinn and Stirk in for Clarke.

FT: Mansfield Town U23 3 Sunderland U23 0 (HT: 3-0)
Attendance: 345

A comfortable win for Stags U23s with two first half goals from corners by Nathan Caine and Jason Law. Nathan Caine then crossed for Tyrese Sinclair to make it 3-0. It was essentially the same Stags team that played against Harrogate Town in the EFL Trophy last Tuesday (8 starters and 2 subs Caine/Cooper). Ryan Stirk also returned from Covid.

Tyrese Sinclair and Jason Law played well. Probably Jason Law's best game this season. Tyrese should have scored a couple more goals. Another 90 minutes for Jordan Bowery and Harry Charsley. George Cooper and Keaton Ward were solid in defence. Keaton Ward did not give the ball away as much as last Tuesday and sensibly smashed it away when required. I like it when he brings the ball out of defence but he then tends to make a bad pass. He should keep trying to develop this part of his game though. Ryan Burke made one great crossfield pass in the 2nd half. James Clarke made a good run into the area in the 1st half and should have shot first time similar to Kellan Gordon on Saturday.

George Shelvey
James Clarke (Taylor Anderson), George Cooper (James Deakin*)?, Keaton Ward, Ryan Burke
Harry Charsley, Ryan Stirk, Jason Law,
Nathan Caine (James Gale), Jordan Bowery, Tyrese Sinclair
