every goal from every pre-season game has always been available in the past, even to you. This season will be no different.

Good result but what does NC take away from that ?? More intense and competitive training sessions take place I’m sure . Waste of fixture

Match fitness.

This is competitive training. That's probably the way of describing a pre season friendly to be fair.

Check previous seasons, we've always played teams like this. Dempster beat them 2-0, Flitcroft beat them 5-0,
Clough beat them 9-1.

You play "easy" teams to practice more attacking play in a game environment. You play bigger teams to practise more defensive play in a game environment.

Should we only play league 2 sides throughout pre season? League 1 and above should be too good for us and conference and below should be too easy for us.

Disagree personally, I think there’s a place for one or two friendlies where you can rack up the goals, though of course we’ll learn more from the tougher games. I briefly spoke to Danny Johnson on the way out last night and he said he was happy to get off the mark in the first game. Nice for strikers to get a few goals no matter who the opposition is in my opinion.

Of course it wasn’t a waste. All matches are learning experiences. It was good that the fans could see the team play after so long. First PSF. Start slowly and build it up.

The most useful aspect is that the players tend to get more time on the ball, and tactics can be seen in action. If we played a League 1 side, we'd be lucky to get half a chance of trying out different tactics, as the other side would be running the show too much.

Clough and Mansfield Town at Retford got a chance to put something back into grass roots football, He took as many 1st team players as possible so that locals could see there team against
football league players, Being back into local football also shows our players what talent plus hard work can get you and the advantages of being a professional league player.
playing against men who want to show they can match you is a challenge especially for our young players.
The journey team spirit and meeting the fans, beats training any day and all teams have played friendlies since the game began, so there must be a lot more benefits than i have mentioned.
