David Wheater's last game was on 7th March 2020 when Oldham were beaten 3-0 away at Crawley. He's only 34 though. It sounds like he's had a tough time.

At the moment I'd rate Clogger as a better CB than the gum chewer and Nartey, and that shows how weedy they are . At least Clogger could head a ball and tackle which does not seem to be in their repertoire

Craig Morgan 2019
Jack Hobbs 2020
Jason Shackell 2020
Martin Cranie 2021
David Wheater 2021

Take your pick of free agent CB's that last played in the EFL

Would love shackell, can't see us getting a free agent in though

Be tempted to get someone in on a 6 month or year deal. Doesn't sound good about Perch either which then leaves us with Hewitt, Nartey, Rawson and Forrester when he's fit.

Perchs scan is back and its really not good. Clough said there's no one unattached that would be any better, unless of injuries. So I can see one coming in.

It's annoying they changed the rules on loans when outside of a transfer window too.

Just do, trust me. I think the club will update everyone, wouldn't be surprised to see them do a news release on it if its as long as I think, or they'll wait until nigels next interview.

I Dont know the time exact time frame, but its while. Its not just a bang to the head hes had lets say that.

Clough said the above about free agents before knowing the results of Perch's injury.

You must be involved at the club to get all this good int. I can see why you’re so defensive

Perch oh dear the last thing we wanted to hear, and with Forrester having a set back, Clough has a mountain to climb

Not involved with anyone at the club, only with other people in football who are.

Not defensive either, just dismissive of the stagsnet idiocracy

....and so Rollin's career at the Stags comes to an end

It seems like that when Nigel Clough doesn't like a player for some reason then he doesn't like them.

Craig/Bear - Has Nigel Clough given any players second chances in the past after they have been initially left out?

When you're bone idle in training you don't get much of a chance im afraid. I do love that I keep seeing people say "x hasnt been given a chance" "Nigel wont give him a chance" etc etc and basing solely off matches played. Theres always more to it than just playing games.

Good luck to him though, thought he showed how good he could be in the one game against Cambridge, got all the attributes to be a very good defender, hopefully sorts his career out at walsall.

I think it was his poor timekeeping that annoyed Nigel Clough as mentioned above by Conor Wilkinson at Walsall

Nigel Clough: “We have quite a few options at centre-half at the moment and Rollin is playing regularly at Walsall. I think it’s good for all parties that the move has been made permanent.”

Not often while at the same club no. The only one I can think of is Lee Croft at Derby who he brought back in from the cold.

He's done if more often at "second clubs" where he's either surprisingly re-signed them or played them after dropping them.

Stephen Bywater, Tom Naylor, Jay McEveley and Luke Varney all spring to mind.

Usually once a player is in his "bad books" he doesn't make it back.

I don't think Rollin is a big miss, I watched every game he played under Coughlan and he was caught out of position so many times it was frightening. I remember sending a message saying he would have Nige pulling his hair out his mistakes were so basic. Even in the EFL Trophy game against Scunthorpe he played quite well but nearly cost us a goal switching off.

He had one decent game (was it v Cambridge) in the league but was somebody i'd never have trusted to string a series of consistent performances together.

Good luck to the lad but I for one won't be losing sleep over him going.

Clough has standards and is a disciplinarian and a players attitude is vital as a team player, he will have spats at players but moves on without holding a grudge.
Many a player has felt his rath, but gone on to have a good career under him,

Agreed, I'm glad our manager has high standards of what he expects from his players.
