Sandy we dont expect to go far in this competition ,were rebuilding ,but give us a few years remember england failed in the 70s its an ongoing process im just a proud scot who gets a regular battering on,here im enjoying it tonight

How Rice and Phillips made it to the end of the game on the pitch I do not know. I’m not blaming Rice because he is what he is and he does his job in front of the defence well, but if you have any ambition to win the game, one of them has to come off. A waste of time having all those ‘world beating attacking players’ if your deeper midfielders can’t get the ball to them.

Grealish has to play. Kane is a yard off the pace, two great chances he’s had but not been able to get to them because he’s sluggish.

Southgates decision making throughout the game was completely baffling. Sticking with Rice and Phillips for 90 minutes despite Scotland being happy to sit in generally and us wanting a goal was just odd. Sterling was really poor, but yet Sancho, the Bundesliga young player of the year can’t get a look in? Kane looks well off it, so you can understand taking him off in some respects but at the same time if you want a chance to fall to anybody last 20 it’s him whether he’s been in the game or not. Rashford did nothing in his place (you could open up another debate about the chosen squads CF options).
Disappointing night and doesn’t give much hope moving forward but I suppose the one positive is that we should be through.
