Let’s give him a chance eh?

Agreed, seems a good fit for this squad

Didn't see that coming.

Hopefully he turns out to be a decent signing. Played a lot of games for County.

Will he be for cover, or a starter?

Has he ever tweeted any any other clubs initials, in a teenage spat with bitter fans.
If not, I trust Nigel

Also had Bappa, Dawson, Buxton, Boulding ,Arnold in that team who were league standard. In fact we had a high proportion of a relegated team's squad to go on to play regularly at a higher level than they came from. Roy Keane and some bloke called Clough left Forest in 1993 after relegation to go to big 6 teams.

Elliott Hewitt has clearly been bought by Nigel Clough as a good cheap back up versatile squad player who can play centre half, right back and centre midfield. The salary guess website has him down for £1,300 per week at Grimsby so he should not be costing much in wages. He was one of Grimsby's better players this season. He did not stand out at right back but played well at right centre half next to Rollin Menayese in March and April. When the two played together in a back four towards the end of the season their record was P12 W4 D5 L3 F10 A11 Pts 17 (2 clean sheets)

Paul Hurst has said on radio that he talks to Nigel Clough regularly so NC may have spoken to Paul Hurst to check out Elliott's character.

Grimsby fans are hoping Rollin Menayese may end up going to Grimsby either permanently or on loan.

Do you think Hewitt was one of the 8 on Clough's list?

An interesting signing. Not particularly exciting, but loads of games at our level and hopefully he’ll do the business for us.

Welcome aboard Elliott

Does Elliott Hewitt's signing mean that it is more likely that James Clarke will be loaned out as we have Kellan Gordon, James Perch and Elliott Hewitt who can all play right back?

I also imagine we won't be offering Joe Riley a new deal, but will still have him in training?

Been wondering this myself, particularly with Hewitt saying it all happened quickly. Don’t know why I’m just not sure he would have been identified as one of the 8 top targets, and perhaps one that we have seen come available and thought he would plug a few gaps relatively well?

Mixed reports from fans, County fans don’t seem to have a good word to say in the main, but then again why would they, and Grimsby fans reckon he’s been great. Truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. Nice to get the ball rolling with the transfers early doors anyway!

I think a loan would serve Clarke well. He needs a run of regular first team football.

Riley is too injury prone and it was a bad decision by Coughlan to sign him in the first place.

Hopefully perch and Gordon are competing for the right back spot

My mate is a life long cod head . He is solid with another more experienced centre back . However he can lose his way .

For me he is a squad player see what business comes again otherwise the fan base will be deflated
