Clough must think we need a top centre half with trying to sign Naylor and making him the top earner.

We absolutely need another centre back.
Perch is a good CB (but he is also our best RB). Not totally convinced about Rawson and I've never seen Hewitt play to be fair ... but either way we definitely need cover for injuries & suspensions. The fact that Cloughie was willing to pay a high price for Naylor suggests that he is of the same opinion. However, he needs to be convinced that they are better (or at least as good) as what we already have ... and I guess that's where the hold up is.

Hewitt is a right back. He played centre back last season in a side relegated from the football league, alongside a player deemed surplus to requirements in a side with 1 player who has played centre back most/all his career (Rawson).

Perch is also a right back. However, like Hewitt, has enough experience to be able to be effective at right back and do a capable job at centre back.

McLaughlin, a left midfielder who played central midfield for forest in the championship for a good amount of games (according to the lads at work) has the experience to be able to be a decent enough option at left back (plus Quinn helps out alot too).

For me our best back 4 is Hewitt Perch Rawson McLaughlin (not seen Burke play). Whether Nigel agrees or not remains to be seen.

Scott McMann came on for Hamilton today when they were 4-0 down at Raith Rovers with 20 minutes to go and they drew 4-4.

Burke looked pretty good at Basford. Good competition for that position.

The thing I like about Clough is the first thing he looks at with a player is whether they can ‘handle the ball’ and goes from there. Every player he’s signed looks confident and capable with the ball at their feet. In the last we’ve had plenty of cloggers who were only signed for their physical attributes.

He wouldn't go there, he doesn't fancy being at home with the wife and kids until furlough ends.

World's biggest club must be the direction Lionel will take. His career will be complete once he runs out at the Kennel.

I think Chesterfield is on his radar. He wasn't sure due to the level but once he found out that the manager was worth more than he is he's more open to it.

Any more news, didn’t NC say that they were talking to a defender last week

Still waiting, Clough said a complicated one. Didn’t sound like he was in any rush to get it done.

Been told by an agent "friend" that it's 99% done but might need to wait until deadline day for it to be announced. He also said it could happen any minute.

He won't say who it is, just that it's not one of his stable.

Excitedly nervous.

I've noticed lately you've got a bit of a downer on for Nigel.

What's changed your mind?

Not a downer mate, I think he is a good manager and we are lucky to have him,

however, so far his substitution's have frustrated me, I don't think he has been proactive enough and I think he is perhaps shoehorning his new players into the team at the moment.

With regards to transfer windows, I am still a little sour with how January went, him holding off for Akins and not getting him (letting 2 strikers go in the process) and it leaving us short, just hoping the same doesn't happen this time as we clearly need a replacement for Rawson.

but all in all I think he is a good manager.
