That's right Bobby. Dan Gardner has been on loan at Donny and a few weeks' ago Richie Wellens did not play him in a friendly because he said Donny could not afford "that calibre of player".

The rumours are that Wellens was only allowed to sign one of Dan Gardner and Louis Reed who were both on trial and he went for Gardner because he had more physical presence and could play more positions. Reed therefore signed for Swindon. Interestingly all the other players released by Wigan have signed for League 2 clubs apart from Gardner.

Wellens also keeps mentioning that he has been offered a couple of Premier League youngsters on loan for free. I assume though that the deal will be that Donny have to play them otherwise they will have to start paying for them.

Oldham signed four new players on Friday - Jamie Bowden (Tottenham Hotspur-Loan), Ousseynou Cisse (Leyton Orient), Danny Rogers (Kilmarnock), Jacob Blyth (Gateshead). They all played against Newport County yesterday with the evergreen Kevin Ellison scoring a 89th minute winner at 42 years of age. Keith Curle said he had 7 players unavailable due to covid, injuries and registration issues.

Swindon Town have signed Ricky Aguiar (20) from Worthing. Swindon fans will probably be getting carried away after beating Scunthorpe 3-1 but it may give them a false impression of the league. Harry McKirdy looked like he had a good game from the extended highlights and the young Villa right back won the penalty. Jack Payne is a good attacking midfield player.

He was rumoured to be on about 5/6k a week at Salford. He was good for Lincoln but like Sedgewick says he won't get that now in league two.
