Strange one. Crewe signed two players this summer who have since decided to retire - Shaun MacDonald (Rotherham United - Retired), Tommie Hoban (Aberdeen - Retired)

Salford City have signed former QPR Striker Aramide Oteh on a short term contract until January. He was at loan at Stevenage and Col U last season - 11(15) league apps and 5 goals

I went to watch Rotherham United bear AFC Wimbledon 3-0 last night. Alex Woodyard was excellent for Wimbledon in centre midfield buzzing around, winning back possession and passing the ball well. He's a player who is made to play in a Nigel Clough midfield. I doubt he would move back up North again though.

I went to watch Morecambe v Lincoln last night, decent game of football, some good players on view, Liam Bridcutt for the Imps is very classy and Cole Stockton has improved beyond all recognition, Lincoln had a lot of possession but no end product whereas Morecambe were more solid defensively and deserved the win based on the 2nd half showing.

They have recruited well, Anthony O’Connor who was released by Bradford looks better than our current options, Diagouraga was really solid in midfield and they have done well to keep him.
The standard was good and my in-laws who are regulars say it’s been high all season so far

I liked Cole Stockton as a young striker at Tranmere and he was a player I would have been happy to sign. He played against the Stags in that crucial 1-0 home win for the Stags at the end of the 2014-2015 season. He then seemed to lose his way after his move to Hearts in 2017 before returning to Tranmere and then moving to Carlisle. His move to little Morecambe has certainly got him back up and firing again and he's now on fire in League 1. Sometimes players just need a club where they feet at home and feel wanted. It worked for Billy Kee at Accrington Stanley. Morecambe and Accrington seem very good at reviving players' careers probably due to the fact that with smaller playing budgets they are always looking at players released by other clubs although John Coleman is also very good at getting good loan players in from higher up.

I’m really surprised at that.

It will no doubt put a dent in their promotion hopes but it’s still early days with plenty of recovery time available. It could even be that there is no disruption if the assistant caries on and takes over permanently.

I watched Bradford City quite a bit on iFollow last season and I thought Anthony O'Connor and Paudie O'Connor were very good centre halfs. I put both of them in my League 2 Team of the Season ahead of Ben Tozer and Will Boyle. Anthony O'Connor is a good player. I think he was mainly released by Bradford because he was on high wages - £3,500 per week according to the Salary Guess website. He can also play right back and holding midfield. I think he mainly played holding midfield for Plymouth Argyle before Jimmy Hasselbaink signed him for Burton Albion. He then helped Burton to promotion under Nigel Clough before moving to Aberdeen. I bet Connor Wood may have been on decent wages as well because Bradford City Chairman Ryan Sparkes complained about Bradford City having holding midfield players and full backs on £3,000-£4,000 per week. He may have been referring to Anthony O'Connor and Connor Wood.

I’d be surprised if Morecambe can pay him what Bradford did, maybe he didn’t get many offers ? He looks like one we missed out on from what I saw and have heard

I agree Northern. Morecambe are not big payers so Anthony O'Connor should have been in our price range although players are always going to be tempted to move up and play in League 1 because they can always drop down to League 2 again if things don't work out. It gives them a back up plan of sorts.
