Good signing. Hopefully he’ll complete with the rest of the midfield for places. We needed one more in there to offer good competition for places.

We had McLaughlin in central midfield on Sunday, which proves the requirement for the signing

It's purely down to the relationship and trust between him and Nigel and I could be wrong but I think JFH is looking to really "work" the Burton players into shape.

Nigel trusts Quinny implicitly and Quinn knows his own body and what he needs to do to be ready for Saturday/Tuesday matches. He certainly doesn't need to be worked to death in training.

Nige rescued him from the scrap heap when he was amazingly struggling to find a club after a long term injury and Quinny more than repaid that faith. Their trust in each other is huge.

There are 2 other players at Burton still who have the same relationship and I'm convinced both will be Stags either in January or in the summer.

Akins and Brayford.
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

Which forum are you on?

If it's Brewed in 1950 there's not one negative comment, only "getting rid of the oldies"

There are a few lads on there who are very good judges (including annable who's made 2 comments). I'd expect most of those good judges will say he's been brilliant and wish him well, I'd expect most to recognise he's a loss and expect half a dozen will be gutted and acknowledge Quinn has been the standout player for 3 years in a team at a higher level than us.

Not like you to put a negative slant on things.

Hey just stating facts whiffy. If I'd gone on and found quotes with folks crying their eyes out at his departure I'd have been getting the party poppers out

I don’t think this signing indicates that Lapslie is leaving, we haven’t had a centre midfielder on the bench for the last 2 games. We need cover, especially if we’re going to be playing with a 3 in there.

"Quinny wanted to be closer to home," said manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

"We wish him all the best and thank him for his services to Burton Albion."

Yes the forum's the one you mentioned. In my eyes folks reaction to a 'good' player leaving shows their worth. Had we lost Walker in the window when he was here this place would've been like funeral parlour.

A bit hard to judge as there are only 3 comments

Well yes, but you'd expect something a little more in the  column if he was that good.

Evidently there were only three comments when you made your post. It’s only an hour since it was announced. Why put the mockers on everything ?

This appears to me to be a very good signing that brings a tremendous amount of experience to our midfield. He will be invaluable for steadying the youngsters when the pressure is on and I now think that Perch will be playing his games at centre back/right back. This takes the pressure off finding a player for those roles as they are not easy to get in January.

Quinn is also fit and match fit due to playing most weeks at the higher level and this must be regarded as a very good and useful signing which can only improve the team. Playoffs are looking a more realistic target already.

Well yes ok, but the 'not so much this season' part of it is a slight concern. Bishop?

There’s nobody saying good riddance in the twitter comments, a few surprised they’ve let him go, a few saying it was the right time and that he will be a success in League Two.

Keep in mind Clough said players cannot go out until one comes in. Well we now have one in. I expect it to be one of the four strikers who is first out the door, rather than a midfielder. Although Charsley played well in central midfield the other night, I don’t think Clough sees him there long term, otherwise he would t have started McLaughlin there against Cheltenham. So I see it as we now have four midfielders for three spots. What with injuries, suspensions, volume of games, possible Covid isolation periods, I don’t see why one of those would need to go.

FIngers toes and testicles crossed the laps remains for the rest of the season. Absolute must! I'd be throwing him a little bung to honour the rest of the loan

This, Laps will be way better than us in a couple of years time imo.

He mentioned that when perch and Cook don’t play we haven’t got a player above 30. Didn’t mention Maynard who is 34. 2+2=5 here but you never know.

Perch was brought in by the previous manager as a holding midfielder, but has shown he is much more suitable and better utilised in the back four.

I don’t see any of the midfielders going anywhere and think more likely one of the Centre halves, possibly O Driscoll maybe

Also wouldn’t be surprised if Maynard goes if there was any interest in taking on his contract, which might be the problem

Maynard’s name has now been added to the article. Pretty sure it wasn’t there first time around.

I don't really criticise our own players and even this isn't really a criticism, more an observation.

I thought Maynard was very poor in the games where he came off the bench. All we need him to do is run around, put himself about a bit but more importantly keep the ball on the odd occasion it comes to him.

I haven't seen him do any of that and while I'm not pushing to see him leave, he wouldn't be a huge loss.

I'd rather we kept Cookie who at least offers something different.
