A brilliant signing and one I thought we would complete yesterday.

I'm sure most of you will know enough about him without me waffling but he's a real midfield general and a leader and I'd expect him to be straight into the starting 11.

He'll sit in front of the back four and get his foot in, get his foot on the ball and get us moving forward quickly.

I'd say Maris is most at risk unless we're in for a surprising "out" and he'll certainly free up Clarke to push further on.

I don't think it will be the last player we sign from Burton this window, unless Jimmy Floyd has persuaded A.N. Other to give him 5 more months.

Delighted to have Quinny on board, a real leader of men.

If this season is about stability we would be signing young lads with potential with the parent club paying some or all of his wage. This is a decent player with plenty of league 1 games this season who Burton probably weren't keen on letting go. We will be paying all his wage which means the manager really thinks we can do something this season.

Happy to have him, plenty of experience and played a lot of games this season so not a crock.

Not sure about him going straight in and displacing Maris though.

Surprised its a central midfielder. 5 midfielders who are all good enough to get into most sides in the league. Most seasons we barely have 1

Possibly a sign that Lapslie is going elsewhere?

He could be our Neal Bishop (first season not second season) for the rest of this season.

That's good to know broomo. Do you think he will become a permanent signing in the summer?

Yes.

I think he's got a good 18 months left in his legs and even if the miracle happens, he's still plenty good enough for league one.

Him and Nigel have a very trusting relationship. He's a very good man to have around.

Stephen Quinn (34) is a regular first team starter for Burton. I can't understand why Burton have allowed him out on loan.

It's purely down to the relationship and trust between him and Nigel and I could be wrong but I think JFH is looking to really "work" the Burton players into shape.

Nigel trusts Quinny implicitly and Quinn knows his own body and what he needs to do to be ready for Saturday/Tuesday matches. He certainly doesn't need to be worked to death in training.

Nige rescued him from the scrap heap when he was amazingly struggling to find a club after a long term injury and Quinny more than repaid that faith. Their trust in each other is huge.

There are 2 other players at Burton still who have the same relationship and I'm convinced both will be Stags either in January or in the summer.

Like Gazza said, I'm hoping it's not a sign of a midfield rejig due to Lapslie not staying, so Maris starting further forward as his replacement.

Think this signing sort of indicates that.

Well yes, but you'd expect something a little more in the  column if he was that good.
