I think you've taken one quote. We probably need to see the whole interview to get the correct context.

You could alternatively take:
"the lads feel responsible for what's happened."
"we haven't put in the performances we hoped for"
"we've made mistakes that have cost us."

Also a dig about the strikers not getting much service too.

Quiet and tense for the last two weeks.
Nothing worse at work than a bad atmosphere in any job.
If the sacking releases that, it can only be for the better.

Looks like the club is trying a different way to encourage the players to play to their potential.

You wouldn’t think that’d be difficult. I can’t believe how bad GC was. Useless!!!

I dont think its that damning ,the pressure was going to be there due to the results ,the players know they have not delivered ,ok the system was not delivering the results but some seem to delight in dancing on graves

hes spot on though to be fair. Graham kept saying I hope our strikers start firing but never mentioned they were getting zero chances.

No delight from me in anyway.
They do say you dig your own grave though and some of the decisions on formation and player choice warranted the dismissal, I wish him well in future employment.

Well if it's a damning interview let's see some sort of performance on Sat that tells us that everything it says is true. If it's another classless, clueless, gutless shambles it'll say more about thier own ineptitude.

Let's see what Coxy's young apprentice can do eh! :D

I’ve listened to the press interview Maynard gave :

- said some individuals were singled out in the dressing room by other player and basically told to buck their ideas up
- said training was more fun today under Cooper
- said the players were given ‘scenarios’ and told how to react to those scenarios under GC. Feels that hampered creativity, and made the team appear robotic so they didn’t have to think for themselves.

Mansfield Town striker Nicky Maynard says harsh dressing room words after Barrow defeat were needed
chad.co.uk, By Stephen Thirkill, Thursday 29th October 2020

Striker Nicky Maynard admits harsh words were said in the dressing room after Mansfield Town’s 4-2 defeat to Barrow.

It left Mansfield still seeking their first win of the campaign and led to Graham Coughlan being sacked shortly after the final whistle.

And Maynard feels it was crucial for the players to have a frank discussion as they look to rebuild their faltering season.

“There were a few words said within the group, a few harsh words,” he said.

“People have been singled out, but not in a bad way. We don’t want to make people feel like it's their fault.

Nicky Maynard believes Mansfield Town now have a fresh start and freedom
chad.co.uk, By Stephen Thirkill, Thursday 29th October 2020

Mansfield Town have a fresh start and freedom to get their season up and running, believes striker Nicky Maynard.

Stags face Walsall on Saturday in their first match since boss Graham Coughlan was given the boot.

And Maynard feels Mansfield can now go into the game with a freedom to express themselves.

“It’s a fresh start and hopefully we can get the ball rolling on Saturday,” he said.

You have interpreted that interview to say what you want it to say ,training was more fun ,sorry 2k a week and he wants fun, training robotic wow have they not got voices ,some players singled out ,,its called showing balls ,pathetic ,they have got one manager sacked ,with this attitude they will soon be getting another one as well
