Years ago Football Managers did virtually everything appertaining to the team , there have been a lot of changes over the years and we often read John X has been appointed as head coach or Johny Y has been appointed as Manager
There are key differences between the roles. A Manager has complete control over his staff, transfers and player contracts unless, of course, they’re working under a meddling owner or CEO. While a head coach just trains and picks the team, with the owner or director of football taking the pressure off them by dealing with the rest.
A lot of this depends of which FA licence is held, the highest coaching level in football being the EUFA level 5 , since 2016 I believe only 2 English coaches have attained this top qualification ie Messr's Gerrard and Lampard. the majority of coaches in UK appear to go no further than level 4 of the FA coaching scheme
If GC was appointed as a Manager then the sole responsibility of the demise lies solely with him
If he was appointed as a coach then responsibility lies in another direction
so the question is
Which do we appoint ? a Manager or a Coach
