I would put Jamie in charge temporarily and also ensure that his job is safe in the back room when the new manager is appointed. He’s Mansfield through and through and a battler, someone we need right now.

I’d tell mcguire to get his boots on after last nights “midfield” masterclass

I was thinking the same  everyone blaming the back 3 (they are useless) but they are horribly exposed time and time again by the awful shape, tactics, formation

This has got to be tongue in cheek ( the bit about registering them as players ).

Why? Bish legs have gone and McGuire has not played full time football for ages .

And yet he persisted with James (Scunny fans said legs have gone)Perch strolling around doing naff all.

Bish's legs have gone performances were still three times better than Perch

As I stated in a previous thread I can’t see mcguire being the main coach, he said in a recent interview that GC has let him take a couple of sessions and he really enjoyed it, even a caretaker has to have more coaching experience then that, I think it will be Cooper/Whitlow.

Jamie McGuire has been involved in the set up this season and clearly has not made much impact. He's not even involved in the management team at AFC Mansfield. JR would be better off appointing Richard Cooper and Mike Whitlow as temporary managers.

Joe Dunne has managed before at Colchester United and Cambridge United and did quite well as caretaker at Cambridge United in 2018
Colchester United (caretaker): 18 August 2009-1 September 2009 P4 W1 D1 L2 Win Rate:25%
Colchester United: 27 September 2012-1 September 2014 P95 W27 D20 L48 Win Rate: 28.4%
Cambridge United (caretaker): 9 February 2018-2 May 2018 P14 W6 D4 L4 Win Rate: 42.9%
Cambridge United: 2 May 2018-1 December 2018 P26 W8 D4 L14 Win Rate: 30.8%
Total: P139 W42 D29 L68 Win Rate: 30.2%

Apart from 'pashun', and running round like a headless chicken as a player, what qualifies McGuire to coach our first team?

Whoever we appoint, i hope we get out of the jobs for the boys approach with coaching we seem to have taken for the past 3/4 years.

Yes, firmly in the cheek.

I don't think this side is a bad one, just mismanaged. Time will tell of course. Needs a bit of experience in the back line. I've not checked but out of the 13 players who played only 5 of them were age 25 or over. 2 players who were subbed were very experienced.

Will we get an announcement this week? I know some are calling for an interview, but maybe we have someone lined up and could be in the dugout this weekend!

They will have ideas of who's available and who they could approach, but it seems as the statement says they will take their time and find the right manager for the club.

I do think it will be Nigel Clough, just a feeling. And I know his feelings about local clubs in the area.

I agree, he does seem to tick all the boxes and whilst his Burton side were hard to watch when they went higher up the leagues that was more budget driven and working with what you can afford, his early sides played good stuff.

I would be highly delighted having Nigel Clough as manager but that could be my heart ruling my head because I loved watching his Dad's teams and loved watching young Nigel playing for his Dad.

He could come in and take a couple of seasons to build a promotion side like Ian Greaves.

I really don’t think Nigel would be interested. Had a “job for life” at Burton. They thought the world of him. His first spell there was 10 years until he moved down the road to try his hand at a higher level. He did well again on his return and only left to help with the clubs financial situation.
Seems comfortable with life and probably doesn’t need the hassle

Nigel Clough would never consider taking temp charge. Might consider full time but Derby will be an option soon
