Cowley interview with D3D4 very interesting....

Talks about society wanting instant success.

Talks about inheriting a side that plays long direct football and having to be patient with the players, finding a way to make it work and waiting for transfer windows to recruit players to play the way they want.

Talks about Mansfield right at the end.... Said doesn't blame GC for moving, right thing for him. Asked if Cowley would change the 3 at the back, says yes of course you have to try and change things. Also says managers have to make quick decisions and hard to do it when you first come in mid way through a season. Says making impulsive decisions doesn't always work... Says now he's had time at the club to affect the culture and implement his game model he should have time.

But winning games buys you time, says you have to keep trying to adapt to find the best way to play with what's available and find a way to win with the players you have.

Then goes into that tactics he likes, like if they play 5 at the back you need one extra forward to cause them problems etc etc and you have to adapt your game for who you play. Says you need athleticism and mobility around Cook etc....

It won't be Cook or Cowley im afraid...

Imo and its just a guess but I reckon the Radfords would jump at the chance if John Terry wanted the job but its more than likely gonna be between Clough and Grayson I feel.

We will be guided by our chief executive, David Sharpe, and will take the necessary time to ensure that we appoint the right manager for Mansfield Town Football Club.”

From press release. In my option Sharpe should be following Coughlin. Together they put the team together. JR and CR in the past have made some good decisions Evans, Cox etc. Why put your faith in some one who sold our best two players and released others to bring in dross.

Only ex Wigan players need apply

I think there will be a lot of interest as there's not a lot of jobs going and other work in football is hard to come by with cuts being made due to COVID. For that reason it is more vital than ever to have a thorough and objective process in order to sift those who really want it and have good ideas from those just looking for something to tide them over until things pick back up.
