At an Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 9 June, EFL Clubs voted on proposals in respect of changes to EFL Regulations in the event season 2019/20 is curtailed.

Proposals were submitted by Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers alongside amendments to an EFL Board proposal which were put forward by Lincoln City, Stevenage and Ipswich Town.

Following a vote on each by all 71 Clubs, it was overwhelmingly agreed (by a majority of all Clubs and a majority in the Championship) to adopt the EFL Board’s proposal into EFL Regulations, which now means the following applies in the event a division curtails its 2019/20 season or it is ended by any other means.

Final divisional placings will be determined on unweighted points per game (if required).
Promotion and relegation should be retained.
Play-Offs will be played in all circumstances but will not be extended (beyond four teams).

Clubs in Leagues One and Two will now meet by division later today to formally determine whether to resume playing the 2019/20 season or opt for curtailment. The Championship Clubs restart their season on 20 June.

No they had indicated a preference to do so but needed EFL approval to do so. The EFL seemed aligned on most points raised with the key exception being no relegation.

Hence the meetings taking place today to agree a way forward.

Season over. Hallelujah.

Let's never talk of this season again.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Bit torn by this one. Stevenage are a southern team and EFL always favour such teams. Therefore I'd love to see them go.
However the cavalier way Macclesfield have treated the matter of players wages and appreared to flagrantly flount the rules means that if they go I won't be shedding a tear for the demise of another northern club

Will a club still go down even if the National League doesn't start next season until full crowds are allowed back?

No relegation from League 2 unless National League confirm promotion from their league

Darragh MacAnthony, Peterborough Chairman - "The state of my timeline full of fans loving the fact that 18 'football clubs' voted to not play football and the ramifications of it. Bravo to the 4 Football clubs who did vote to play on. The EFL and Sky Bet League One raspberries show draws to a close. Enjoy your summer football fans"

Haven't Colchester released a few key players recently? Also I assume no fans will be in attendance

Such a shame. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer club.

If this had have happened 12 months earlier, we would have been promoted, Flitcroft kept his job, Walker may well have stayed and things would have been so different!

How does the EFL favour Southern teams ?

Its a bit ridiculous that a decision on a points reduction couldn't be made within a week of the offence in theory leaving Macc games left to save themselves. I know we have an exceptional situation but the meeting now has a straight choice who to relegate.
