To put that into perspective, that’s better than Tyler Walker (171 mins) and Nicky Maynard (176 mins).

The flip side is, the reason he didn’t play that many minutes is because he was injured or knackered, but it shows he knows where the net is when he’s on the pitch.

The salary cap must mean there is a good chance of Andy Cook staying at Field Mill
which would be good news. He would be an excellent but very expensive Plan B and sometimes a very good Plan A.

Why would it be good news, he doesn't want to stay and if he would rather warm the bench on, reputedly, high wages then he is just a mercenary so and so, like so many other professional sportsmen.

What I like about Andy Cook is that he's not afraid to have a crack at goal whenever he gets a chance. He scored three goals direct from throw ins last season. He's not going to run 10k per game and press for 90 minutes but he's a very dangerous player to bring on off the bench and a good player to have in the squad.

He's a bit of a mardy bum if he's not starting but then again most players are. To be fair to him he seemed to give it 100% when he played under GC before he went out on loan.

Just can't see why people want to move Cook on. I would prefer him to be fired up to play for Mansfield.

That’s the issue though. He wouldn’t have gone on loan if he was up for it.

It’s down to a cook himself. He’s paid to do a job. He needs to extract a digit and get on with it.

It's general knowledge and the reason he went to Tranmere on loan, he told the manager he could not play a pressing game.

It’s common knowledge that he wanted out in January yes, but not now. People are allowed to change their minds. Whether you accept that is up to you.

Most cringeworthy thing I've ever seen. Even tops our Maynard reveal.

It's general knowledge and the reason he went to Tranmere on loan, he told the manager he could not play a pressing game.

Maybe he knew his fitness levels at that point wouldn't suit the pressing game GC wanted to play, and he couldn't achieve those levels mid season.
Having now had 4-5 months without matches and an upcoming preseason where the GC game style is the target, he could be a different player.
The reason he came to us in the first place was because the Walsall fans were constantly on his back and drove him out. He is our player. Rather than writing him off before a ball is even kicked out, let's get behind him and see what happens.

If he made a gesture, even through the manager, that he wants to stay we would all be pretty happy, as we are we are just waiting for an announcement that he has gone.

Sharpe mentioned him in his interview, nobody asked GC about him in his interview from memory, and that’s the only time we’ve heard from the manager. He’s been in training from the photos and videos we’ve seen, so why would you think that he wants to leave?

There’s nothing to say. Move on until you hear otherwise.

How on earth do you know what he told the manager?

Cook is in training, and seemingly getting on with things. Thats all we know, GC will know what he's capable of and will be getting him fit.

Andy Cook was signed by dempster ,who probably outlined the way the team were going to play ,then injuries took him out of the action. Then change of manager different style ,maybe not suiting cook ,but if he can adapt then he is a bloody good striker

Would have thought we will go with what we have now with a sprinkling of youth teamers .

What is it they say in the military, "obey the last order"?

Similar goes for comments made by people in the spotlight, their last comment is taken as their current position, to me that means:-

1) Cook admits to not being able to play the pressing game GC wants.

2) Therefore he wants away.

If his position has changed let him say so and we can all move on.

Sedgwick,

You are someone who puts it about that you hear things from inside the club and I for one take what you say seriously, but like everyone else you are not grasping the Cook situation.

How do I know what the manager said, he broadcasted it on 103.2 last January when he said something along the lines of "Cook has told me the pressing game is not his style, we agreed a loan etc". I also understand a fee was agreed should Tranmere have wanted to sign him at season's end.

So the near quote is the current position until someone from the club changes it. If that happens we move on in the knowledge that Cook is here to stay and he will do his best for the club.

The wing backs will be the wingers if we play three at the back - Mal Benning, Kellan Gordon, Joe Riley, James Clarke etc
