I enjoyed the first season and did feel quite bad for them as they'd been horribly mismanaged from the top in charge. We all know how it ends but I'm hoping it'll be a good watch, it's a good insight to a football team behind closed doors

Just saw our Graham on it.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

That scene where they’re bidding for Will Grigg is incredible watching. The complete naiveness of the owner after being told by 3 different people not to bid any more is bad to watch from a Sunderland perspective.

Just goes to show what pressure can be put on owners and managers when signing players, and also how little research goes into who they go for.

The chief exec Charlie guy is the worst kind of corporate blagger you ever did see.

If Sunderland only got £1.5m for Maja and paid £3m for Grigg, surely they would have been better to let Maja just run his contract out.

Pretty sure they wasn't planning on paying 3m for Grigg
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

Watched it this weekend, think I have a bit of a soft spot for Sunderland now  The whole Maja/Grigg situatiomn wasn't handled well. Seemed like Majas agent was forcing this move through and paying 3 million for Grigg is just baffling. Hope they do get promoted back to the champ, but they'll need more money to push them on soon which Donald doesn't seem like he has.

No season 3 being filmed this year which isn't a surprise. Are there any other similar documents about football teams?

If you haven't done it already then sign up to the free trial on Amazon prime and watch the Man City one, that's a decent watch and shows how good Pep really is. I think since I took my free trial a Leeds one is now on too but I haven't seen that.

I reckon there is one on Juventus on Netflix too.

The city one is far more football based than the Sunderland one which focuses more on the boardroom.

This is a very good film about Maradona. You will have to buy it or rent it off Amazon though I think:

It’s on the Channel 4 catch up thingy. I can confirm it is absolutely brilliant.

Thanks for the tip on Channel 4. Shows that Maradona is one of those rare players that was so good that his teams won competitions just because he was in them. The stuff about his time at Napoli is well worth watching even if you’ve seen all his Argentina stuff.

Making a film about how thd club was run .
Wonder if this happened ??

there was not a film crew following us around from game to game, other than main gantry camera and pitchside camera. The separate film crews I can think of were C5 for the Millionaire programme and the Sky Sports Football's Real Stories. I might have forgotten one other.

I can remember seeing the Notts Police camera crew following some of our more exuberant fans about from the late 80’s to the present season.

That is one hell of a private collection of tapes for Carl Gabitas to watch in retirement.

The series on Sunderland made in the 96/97 season was good. Peter Ried's first season in charge I think. Like most seasons Sunderland ended up getting relegated. Ried had many a foul mouthed rant, backed up by Bobby Saxton repeating what Reid had just said.

I'm sure the pair were the inspiration for Mike Bassett & Dave Dodds.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.
