On his day he's amongst the best. The word 'consistency' isn't in his vocabulary though. His skill is wasted with his poor mental attitude . Some players you just can't help and get dragged down by their inner demons. Players like Chapman, Caldwell, Muzza etc could've graced far higher stages but failed.
Messi would not be Messi (with all his skill) without being mentally proffesional.

Are you a qualified criminal lawyer AWC?
I wouldn’t think so with that spelling.
Sorry Dad. I must spell definitely correctly to be a qualified criminal lawyer or get into the Army.
It plays to your credibility.

Noted.
But what you reckon? Donohue will get time, Mellis won't?
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

I think it’s very hard to speculate. Other than what’s in the press we don’t know the specifics of the case, his previous (if any) and mitigation.
Aside from that I personally don’t think it’s right (for me, others can do so of course) to speculate on the sentencing when there is a victim and people’s futures at stake. Just let the process run it’s course, that’s what it’s there for.

I’m not sure of the actual evidence but I would suspect it’ll be a suspended sentence

It'll depend on what bad character gets introduced, at what point they enter a guilty plea (if they do), how long the trial takes & how long they persist with a provable lie and what mood the judge is in when it comes to sentencing. They do seem to like to make examples of footballers.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

You can’t introduce bad character for sentencing, only previous convictions.
The length of the trial is not relevant.
I agree the judge’s mood may be highly relevant although they still have to apply the sentencing guidelines.

This. He makes a 10 yard pass and half our fan base think he is Paul Scholes.

Previous convictions point to bad character shirley.
The length of the trial can have a direct impact on the judge's mood.

Introducing bad character in criminal trials is a different thing and has a quite specific meaning. Basically it’s introduced to prove guilt, usually in response to a ‘good character’ defence. You can usually only introduce bad character of the defence advances ‘good character’. Although it’s not as simple as that.
It’s different from previous convictions, which goes to sentencing.
I realise people may not be that interested in this so I will shut up now.

Mellis I have always been led to believe, whether I have been correctly told the facts, was not the main aggressor and that what he did was of a lesser offence in nature.
However, if the CPS are taking this all the way to trial at Crown Court where Jacob is pleading not guilty can only mean one of two things (IMO - before they usual suspects appear; firstly he is innocent of the GBH charge and he wants to prove his innocence in a court of law or he is going down the ‘Adam Johnson defence route’ whereby he pleads innocence till the last minute thereby ensuring he still has his livelihood till the last minute.
Either way, this court case, guilty or not guilty, like our season is dragging on for far too long without any likelihood of a satisfactory conclusion.

"In January 2012, Donohue pleaded guilty at Caernarfon Magistrates Court to a charge of assaulting a woman at a nightclub in Bangor, Gwynedd, the previous 13 November. He was fined £500 and £85 court fees, and sentenced to 120 hours of community service and four weeks of curfew."
I would say that that is all that needs to be said to confirm his bad character.

Previous convictions only introduced in sentencing.

Ban him from all pubs and bars for three weeks. Force him to stay at home, except for essential journeys or for work. After that, no pubs or nightclubs for the rest of the year unless he signs in, and he can't stay out later than 10. Make it so that he's not to meet his mates either.
That should be enough punishment.
