Andy Cook - An apology

Postby I am Spartacus » Sat Jan 11, 2020 3:13 pm

Today, just before kick off I witnessed a new low from a ‘stags fan’. As Andy Cook came out prior to the first team he subjected to abuse, telling him he was ‘Hank’ for want of a better phrase. Cooky stood turned asked what he said and he repeated.

Cooky, despite looking like he would rip this fan a new one, walked away. A few, Big Yella included, apologised to him on behalf of the fans. He was not happy though.

What kind of fan, in the loosest sense of the word, thinks that by personally, directly and venomously abusing a player that the player will give his all.

Personally up until this moment I had a great deal of respect for this fan though as of now, will be treated with contempt.

Andy, on behalf of the thousand of true Stags fans everywhere please accept this apology.

Andy Cook has been one of our better players this season.

As others have said, name this sad act who feels it acceptable to slate a player before the game has even started.

I was there and heard the exchange, it made me feel demotivated so how did it make AC feel, give us your all after calling you Hank.

Not an Andy Cook fan but no player deserves that before kick off. Root him out and ban him

Why do some football "fans" think that because they've paid to get in it entitles them to abuse who they like.
If the identity of this individual is known they should be reported and dealt with.

It’s actually embarrassing all around the ground with some of the brain dead drivel that’s spouted off.

I doubt he'll be named. Spartacus is going to treat him with the contempt he deserves which should be good enough.

He's scored 5 goals in 20 appearances. 1 in 4 return. A return you could argue is about right for a target man. How about a target man man in a team that ships goals. Also, in a team that has had a few games with 0 shots on goal. Maynard is on 11 league goals in 24 games almost 1 in 2 games. Danny Rose has 8 goals in 22 games. Just over 1 in 3.

The problem isn't our forwards. They shouldn't have any criticism levelled their way.

I've not included Craig Davies because he's made 2 sub appearances one after 82 minutes and the other after 86. It's unfair to judge at this stage of this season.

Spot on Gazza

We’ve let 42 goals in this season, only 3 other teams have conceded more. That’s the issue

This has been happening most games by the way people, Benning had it directed to him near the end of the Bradford game and you could tell it got to him.

A big portion of fans at the end made the point to Benning to apologise and clapped him off.

So who was it then....he needs naming and shaming so he can get some advice if his own on Facebook or twitter.

Did nobody say anything to him at the time!? Totally unacceptable to abuse your own players especially before a ball is kicked...might as well go and sit in away end
