https://www.mansfieldtown.net/news/2019 ... port-vale/

“Five lads put their hands up to go and be brave but on the night, we didn’t score the penalties and they did."

We don't even have set penalty takers?

EDIT: Read the rest of the article and it's really concerning.

“Kellan’s [Gordon] last couple of games, he’s been playing with some back pain. He’s had a few painkillers and played through it for the club – we want people to show that type of determination but we have to be careful.

“It has come to the stage where we need someone to have a look at the problem, but that attitude he’s shown is something that we want to encourage. I think he’ll be available for Saturday.”

Are we serious? We are encouraging players to play on with a bad back? They've let it get so bad that someone needs to look at it now! That's just stupidity.

also, “I think you’ve seen in the performance tonight that the dressing room is fine. The performance level was fine and going 2-1 down – if there wasn’t character in the dressing room – we’d have conceded three or four.”

The dressing room is not fine, the performance showed that. We would have conceded 3 or 4 on top of the 2 we did concede if Port Vale were at full strength.

The Gordon scenario is further evidence of what I have been saying. The conditioning of the players is not right.

Danny Rose was rushed back from injury recently only to pick up another knock and Hayden White is another example. The amount of injuries we have is not bad luck it's management.

At best he just tried to be clever and look like he was calm and collected. At worst he doesn't want to play Saturday or for Dempster again.

Have done IMO he’s trying to be too clever and got outdone.

Any player purposely not scoring as you have stated should be sacked on the spot.

Shocker from Benning, even Gibbo would've saved it

Same with Pearce as well. Said at the time I'd rather lose Pearce for 2-3 weeks and have him fit and ready to go, rather than 6 weeks of sub par performances, which make the problem worse, and have him out injured for another 4 weeks or so.

Danny was chasing a lost cause, like he did when he played last season, but because of the lack of fitness work his hamstring went.

We didn't have this problem last season. I think Olejnik was he landed funny in training and blew his ligaments in his knee, but other than that Rose was nigh on assaulted by Newport. White had his leg broke again Colchester. The defence got concussed more time that most can count. Other than those I don't think there were many other injuries. A few knocks and bruises, as you would expect in a game, but we didn't have a player pull up whilst running for the ball for example.

Difficult to see how both goals came about from other end of pitch, but looking at video that was comical defending.

Can’t defenders just put their foot through the ball and clear it instead of pussy footing about trying to be clever or is that Managers instructions to try and play it out.
Those accustomed to privilege may feel that equality is oppression.

So have I and if the keeper had gone the other way he would have looked like a genius.
It was a shocking penalty but to make the leap to saying a player deliberately had a penalty saved to get his boss sacked is extraordinary.

I was level with Benning when he took it and it looked to me like he tried to do a panenka and didn't get underneath the ball which is why it made it look like a scuffed back pass.

Just watched Glovers interview. He’s genuinely convinced that last night was good and if we play like we did in the second half we’ll be a threat to teams. Seriously? It was better in the second half but couldn’t have been much worse. First goal was a gift and I would hardly say we were knocking the door down for and pinning them back.

All we need to do is ‘cut out the silly mistakes and we’ll be fine’ apparently. Problem solved!

‘Bishop and Macca did well, Clarke was great at right back’. Glovers mindset is like he’s coaching at a club that are happy to just stay up, not one that wants to push for promotion, standards don’t seem high enough to me.

Agree. If we were like the Morecambe's or Macclesfield's of the league whose main aim is to not go down and ruin as many teams days as possible then we'd be more lenient. We are supposed to be winning most games and only succumbing to a smash and grab or the oppositions defence playing a blinder. I know there are no guarantees in football but right now teams higher up the league will focus more because we do have good players and their manager will be telling them to not be the start of our run. Lower sides will fancy their chances against us. Hence our abysmal run.
