The most out of shape footballer to ever play for us

Postby Random Hero » Tue Sep 17, 2019 9:19 pm

I know he’s been injured but good lord. Andy Cook is at least two stone overweight and played like it too. What on earth did we do to help him maintain physical fitness after his injury?! And what on earth would possess a manager to bring him on in that diabolical condition?!

Bringing him on was absolutely embarrassing. He makes Matt Rhead look lean.

Serious questions need to be asked.

He looked on the stocky side in pre-season but Jesus H Christ he’s put on a lot since then. He wouldn’t have looked out of place in my Sunday side.

He’s looked exactly the same for the last three seasons and scored 60 plus goals.

Shame he didn't finish that laid on a plate chance at 1-0, shocking dithering

Won most of his headers... missed a sitter.

Who was the player, a midfielder maybe, who played for us under Palmer. Maxwell or something. Wasn't he pretty huge?

Well he didn’t look like that in pre-season so you’re talking guff.

He’s never going to be shredded but to rock up and play tonight looking like that was a disgrace

Can keepers get away with it more?

Different option from would be Adi Yussef. Built like a body builder when he played for us and was blowing out his backside after 5 minutes!
I saw him for Solihull Moors last season and barely recognised him, he was much leaner and looked like a footballer! it’s earned him a decent move.

The whole fitness of the squad this season needs to be questioned.

More muscle will use more oxygen, a person with muscle mass will be decent at short sprints of no more than 150 meters, after that they'll be struggling for breath. Having muscle mass has it's downfalls as well as it's gains, muscle in the right areas on a footballer is key to them being able to see out 90 minutes.

Yussef has stripped his muscle away, he'll feel the difference over 90 minutes.
