I'm assuming 81 points will be enough for automatic promotion, TOP 3 finish.

Current Table
PLD..W...D...L....PTS....PPG
16....5...5...6.....20.....1.25

Required for 81 points
PLD..W....D....L....PTS...PPG
30...20....1....9....61....2.03
30...19....4....7....61....2.03
30...18....7....5....61....2.03
30...17...10...3....61....2.03
30...16...13...1....61....2.03

Based on our current PPG 1.25, we would finish on 58 points, which based on last seasons final table equals 16th.

Forget the TOP 3 for now, concentrate on getting 51 points (we sent Bristol Rovers down with 50 points in 2014).

Current Table
PLD..W...D...L...PTS...PPG
16....5...5...6....20....1.25

Required for 51 Points
PLD..W...D.....L...PTS...PPG
30...10...1....19...31...1.03
30....9....4....17...31...1.03
30....8....7....15...31...1.03
30....7...10...13...31...1.03
30....6...13...11...31...1.03
30....5...16....9...31....1.03

Stags current PPG of 1.25 over a season would see us finish with 58 points.

As someone already pointed out above: Bristol Rovers finished 23rd don't forget. You need to finish 24th to go down. If you look at the table for recent seasons, 51 point is far too high. 46 would be conservative.

As Kirkby says, forget top 3, talk of getting to 80 points for top 3 is just ridiculous at the moment. We’ve beat nobody decent, played all the bottom sides, and still find ourselves 8 points adrift having played more games.

Playoffs is the target now and that will be tough enough with the mountain we’ve got to climb.

Going on the 1st 15 games 1/3 of the season gone ..

Newport 7th on 27pts = 82pts end of season

Means we would need another 62 points from our remaining games to reach play offs , 31 games , 2pts per game, doable but a tough task ahead , on current form we would end up with 61 points.

If you count current form as the last 5 games then that’s exactly 62 points from the remaining games.....

Current form is essentially based on only really having played the worst teams in League 2 and still being rubbish

Out of the last 6 games, 3 of the opponents are in the top half.
Out of the last 10 games, 5 of the opponents are in the top half.

Stags 5 wins from 17 games have all been against teams in the current bottom 7 (18th to 22nd)!

So we've played 10 games against teams in the top 17 and 2 games against the bottom 2 and not won any!

Only 2 teams have gained less points at home!

Only 5 teams have conceded more goals!

On a positive note,

Only 2 teams have scored more league goals

Only 3 teams have gained more points away

In summary,

Away form and scoring goals :D

Home form and defending

The Macc lads, who have not trained all week or been paid compared to Stags top 3 budget and players have been well paid had 13 shots to Stags 5 and 9 corners to stags 0

League 2 appears to a really poor division this season and we're 14th and points wise closer to the bottom spot than top spot!

If you take in to account win ratio, budget, league position, preparation for the season, motivational skills, Managerial credentials and track record, Dempster would arguably come bottom of the pile in my lifetime so far unfortunately.

51 points is far too high as explained several times previously, by me and others. You are using 23rd place when you should be using 24th.
