Bit of a surprise that Ben Turner has turned us down. Maybe he thinks that he'll be on the bench too much. He was starting to look like a really useful player, after a slow start.

I don't think it's that, more likely that he has offers from a higher level.

The two televised play off games wouldn't have done him any harm.

Drop in standard.

You can listen to an extract here. Confirms Mellis has signed.

Doesn't sound like big signing no.2 will happen today.

We'll have to wait til we return from Portugal if it's not today.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Turner was good for us mostly when he came in, but I’m not too disappointed with him turning down the contract. I’m more than happy with the 3 CB’s we have whether they play as a 3 or somebody drops out for a 2.

It would be ideal for the defender we bring in as cover to be a bit more flexible than Turner in terms of where he can play in the back line. Turner was only really suited to the central role when playing a 3 due to his pace, which in turn meant others would have to move around too. Somebody of a similar skill set to Rhys Bennett would benefit us, solid enough at RB, RCB, or CB. Probably not that easy to find though, particularly when everyone knows we already have a strong back line that will be hard to break in to.

Dempster said it had to be right for the club and the player, insinuating that we didn't have a deal in principle just yet.

Hope they can thrash it out today and be on the flight with the rest of the squad tomorrow.

Maybe his agent has got him better wages elsewhere, or he wants to join his former boss!

I’m not surprised by Turner, I think we may have had a chance if we’d gone up.
Interesting wording around Mellis?
The wording more sensible around Hamilton, I read it as we want him to stay so only call if you’ve got a big offer.
It sounds similar for rose but I’d guess we’d welcome that a little more than a bid for Hamilton?

He's implying that it is Maynard, as per the rumours on here.
