He's that good, that Wallsall didn't want him, playing in the same division.

If you read about a bit, he told Clarke he didn’t want to be at Walsall and we have come in with a bid, simple. Not a case of Walsall shipping him out because he’s no good. Their fans seem pretty annoyed he’s gone, which is rare, so make of that what you will.

Sometimes a change of club helps.

I suppose that means Walker won't be coming back.

Still pleased with this signing though.

I would imagine the Cook signing hasn't come cheap.

If JR funded Walker as well that would be impressive.

I hope I'm wrong.

He fell out with their fans against Accrington last season. After that he wasn't the same. I guess that's why they wanted him out. Should make it interesting against them this season. We also have Preston and Benning, who were academy products there.

Good signing! Pleased with that

Jr saying when he appointed Dempster that he was still fully backing him put those rumours to bed... Only the idiots that ignored that fact and wanted the usual doom & gloom believed it.

When you've got a good squad you don't need a massive budget, just big enough to add decent players like cook.

Great first signing... excited to see who comes next. Well done demps and glover and the radfords

Andy Cook leaves Walsall for Mansfield
By Joseph Masi
https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/fo ... mansfield/

While officially undisclosed, the Express & Star understands the Stags have paid in the region of £150,000 plus add-ons for the forward.

In what is a huge blow for the Saddlers, manager Darrell Clarke confirmed the striker asked to leave the club a number of weeks ago.

The 28-year-old, who joined the club on a free transfer from Tranmere, scored 18 goals last season despite Walsall being relegated from League One. He was also crowned the club's Player of the Year.

Manager Clarke said: On the very first phone call I had with Andy Cook numerous weeks ago, his desire was to leave the football club.

“That’s football and we only want players at Walsall who want to be here and that wasn’t the case with Andy Cook.

“We’ve been working away in the background to get the best price. We thank him for his efforts and move forward as a club.

“This is something I was expecting and we look forward to bringing in new recruits over the coming weeks.”

A statement from Walsall said: "The club would like to thank Andy for his efforts during his time with the Saddlers."

Isolated attitude problem maybe? only seemed to have occurred at Walsall. Relegation team, high tensions etc

Also, they mention his weight a lot but again that’s down to training programs etc.

It’ll be good to have a player with an edge to him

Do we need a striker with pace now? Rose, Davies and Cook are all 'target men' so to speak and are good at heading and holding the ball up in the opposition's half. I feel now we need someone who can stretch defences and get in behind but I also forgot we have Omari Sterling-James but I'm not sure if he will be utilised as a striker or a winger or sold or loaned out... Not sure what kind of striker Jordan Graham is as I haven't really seen enough of him to judge

Big strong lad.Scores all types of goals.Left foot right foot and headers.18 goals in league one last season and still only 28.If the other new signings are of the same quality then we will have a great chance of the automatics.

We do and I’m assuming the second striker is someone different to the other three.

This is the type of signing DF needed to make rather than Ajose in Jan.

This is a proper signing. Really pleased. A good age, proven, tough, hungry, versatile. Great stuff.
