Over the moon with the win but the more I'm reading on reports it was mostly down to mistakes for every goal.
Were Exeter that bad or did we make them look that bad because of our way of playing.
Questions I have is what was the difference between this game and prob the last 7
Is it the players the tactics the not playing grant and cj in the same team.
Flitcroft did say he would ask who wanted our success from the players.
If these players started today and on the bench are the ones then I trust him.

:coys: :coys:

Ps great summary again thank you.

Report was fairly much how I saw it too. Hamilton looked exhausted in the second half though I thought, surprised at 4-1 we didn't take the opportunity to rest him for a youngster or Rose to make a comeback. Same for Tyler really, it was a good chance to give them both a break, but with both on a hat-trick I guess they'd want to stay on.
Thought Bishop was immense again today from the first whistle, he'd be a big miss if he has to miss out from here on in.

I was glad that Flitcroft waited until the last couple of minutes to replace CJ. Walker and Hamilton were key players and if weakening the team led to opportunities for Exeter to pull a goal back we may have at least dented our goal difference. And we've seen late comebacks before.
Incidentally, Exeter's goal was an unusual header over the line.

Turner cannot play in a three for me.

Why was Ajose missing?

Nicky Ajose did not travel with the squad, no reason was given and so we will await news on the reason.

You should have given CJ a 10!

5.5 is extremely harsh for Ben Turner. He missed the header on the touchline for the goal but it was the only one he missed all game and there was still plenty of work for Exeter to do to score a goal. He won everything else down his side of the pitch. I gave him 8. It was a superb away performance.

My ratings were:

CJ Hamilton 10
Tyler Walker 9
Will Tomlinson 8.5
Ben Turner 8
Krystian Pearce 8
Matt Preston 8
Neal Bishop 8
Conrad Logan 7.5
Gethin Jones 7.5
Mal Benning 7.5
Alex MacDonald 7.5

I only saw the highlights, but agree, it should have been mopped up by other defenders. Ben will get better with games and next season, i think will be invaluable with a decent pre season behind him

It wasn't Turner's only mistake. As I noted, he had a good last 40 minutes.

I'm pretty sure Ben Turner made the most number of headers in the 1st half as he was down my side and Exeter only had one attack in that half. He also had a couple of good headed clearances in the 2nd half. I'll have another watch tonight.

Interesting note in your report regarding away attendances at St James park.

Agree it was a good following but quite a few teams (Newport, Swindon, Northampton and Lincoln) took the maximum capacity of about 330 before the terracing was open. So seventh highest which is in line with general away followings this season.

Ok, seventh highest if you want to use a definition of "percentage of capacity".
