Mansfield Town Reserves v Port Vale Reserves

Postby Tippy Tappy Football » Tue Mar 26, 2019 2:33 pm

We are in the 2nd half and a young Mansfield Town Reserve side (U21s) are beating a young Port Vale reserve side 2-0 with both goals being scored by Jimmy Knowles.

Sam Wilson
Aiden Walker, Jamie Chisolm, No 5 - Trialist, Henri Wilder
Tom Fielding, Keaton Ward, Harry Bircumshaw, Iryah Gooden,
No 10 - Trialist, Jimmy Knowles

Both Trialist are playing well. I think I have worked out that No 10 is Tom Anderson from Birmingham City.

Jimmy Knowles has made it 3-0 after a good through ball from Keaton Ward.

3-1

No 8 for Port Vale (Toby Edser) scores from a free kick from the edge of the area.

Finished 4-1 to the young Stags.

Good to see Jack Thomas back at the Stags doing some coaching for the academy.

Based on the quality of the opposition etc etc, Tippy, has Knowles done enough to earn a place on the bench at Exeter in your opinion? He could presumably replace Alistair Smith.

I'm a bit disappointed to see Sinclair didn't start again.

He was only playing against young lads but I'd stick him on the bench. No harm chucking him on for 10-15 minutes if we were losing. He could not do any worse than our other strikers at the moment.

I think the No 5 was Denzel Williams who has played for Blackpool and Wigan. He was pretty solid at the back.

There has to come a point where DF says to the boys up front who are firing blanks atm, 'Hey, it's like this boys, you've forgotten what the back of the net looks like. I'm gonna start with Jimmy on Saturday, what have I to lose. If Jimmy don't score then he's getting experience and he'll have done no worse than you shower over the last 4 games or so. I can't and the fans can't wait any longer'.

But can Jimmy win the ball in the air with a giant CH on his back, turn and chase his own flick on and finish with pomp?????

The strikers we have atm can't do it when it's put on a plate for them either. Tyler v Imps and Ajose v Crewe spring to mind, maybe Jimmy could've at least got one on target eh!

Yep, players under the age of 21 don't need to be registered as far as I know.
